| Took my 3 year old to his first overnight stay at the rodeo. Lol. He is a pretty high strung personality. Gave ulcerguard day before we left and every day during. Just got home today. He ate and drank fine on the road and In the stall but was a pacing nervous wreck during the day. Fine at night. Got home today and he had a little spasmodic colic from the stress but he was eating and drinking fine which was weird. Anyway, put in a call to vet to ask about meds I could use for next trip until he learns the ropes. Has anyone had a similar situation ? Thanks ! |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | I was recommended to use MVP Calm V, it is a powder. And, it actually worked. Mine would rear up, get his hooves caught in anything and it was a mess. I started giving it to him Thursday night, then each feeding until Sunday afternoon at a 3 day. I did this for 3 shows. He is now fine. I know some don't like feed through, but this product actually worked. It was recommended to me by Liana Deweese |

Awesome! I will try it. He is a nice colt and it won't take long for him to adjust. I'm glad you don't have to give it every day, just for shows. |

| For my antsy horse that wouldn't settle, I got her some T.H.E calming cookies. They make them specifically for your horses issues! They worked even better than I imagined, as she was very hard to relax even at home. Highly recommend! I believe I gave her 2 a day at shows, one in morning and one early afternoon. Also wanted to add, if you want to go super basic - valerian root! You can buy it online from many different herbal stores. Just sprinkle on feed, and it works pretty good also! Takes enough edge off without changing performance... does smell pretty rancid though!

Thats exactly what vet recommended. She said in the muscle to make it last longer. |

My horse was given ace by the trainers she was with. Instead of dealing with her young horse issues, they aced her without my knowledge. Honestly I hate using ace for this reason & they knew it but they did it anyway. This was a fut horse. They aced her to run her. I brought her home & she was a horrible mess. She freaked out when I hauled her off the property. I took her to a respected barrel clinic & she freaked out there. The use of ace didn't give her any confidence. The person giving the clinic was appauled that my mare was given ace. Needless to say I was livid not at my horse, she was a victum here, but at the trainers . I put her on Oxygen Relief Pellets & it has done wonders for her. I am actually able to exh her now. Yes I need to keep hauling her but she has come a long way. My humble opinion, any vet who would suggest using ace for hauling a young horse is a wack. My vet knew of my mares problems & did not suggest ace. Tranquilizing a horse is not teaching them. JMHO on this subject. |

Location: North of Tulsa, Oklahoma | Practice, practice, practice! I guess I got lucky this time! We had to take an extra horse with us for an entire weekend because my husband is currently recovering from a serious injury and we were trying to reduce the number of horses left for my Dad to care for while we were away. This colt had only been to one local race and longest trailer ride had been less than 30 minutes. We hauled him 3.5 hours away for the entire weekend and he could not see his hauling buddies from his stall. If this picture is any indication, I'm guess hauling will be no big deal once he's old enough to ride!
