Hi.  Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the Vernon Purdy tree made by Performance Built Saddles.

Both of my horses & I all love mine.  It really frees up my short wide mare that gets heavy on her front end in anything that she feels is to tight in the shoulders. And it is really comfortable to ride. My friend tried it and said it was the most comfortable saddle she has ever sat in.

That's great to hear.  I thought i had one purchased but it looks like someone also purchased it on the same day so i'm waiting on another one.  Thanks for your response.

I am waiting on one, right now, and extremely excited about it!

I really love a saddle maker who thinks in detail and outside-the-box - who is genuinely concerned about horse comfort and that is Vernon.  He seems like a genuinely nice guy, as well.

In the past, I've had things get in the way of my horses' movements, and from what I see in his tree design and finish out, I won't have to worry about them.

Update to my previous comment - I picked it up, last Saturday!  This first horse pictured has had a lot of time off and needs to get back in shape, but when she was going good, I still had problems finding a saddle that wouldn't roll and didn't pinch her shoulders - really wide, flat back. Vernon specially measured her and made it extra wide -- I've tried other saddle-makers' wide versions and they were not wide enough.  This saddle also fits my other wide horse very well. I can share more pics another day - it seems to get dark too early here, with all of the smoke in the air and the pics aren't coming out great. He makes a beautiful saddle, even though this one of mine is not that fancy (and is part of the new lighter made series) - all I cared about was the fit when I ordered this one and just told him to make it like one he had already made. She is already moving different/turning different. She moves like I'm riding her bareback, but I FEEL like I'm in a secure, well-balanced saddle.  Second horse pictured has really wide shoulders and ribs, but has a sway to his back - this saddle fits him very well.  I am so happy with this purchase and will want another one. This pad is a Diamond wool (real wool) - it has a great grip to it and I like it better than felt.

I

I have to add this pic - crazy how much difference 2 weeks can make - You can tell he's been getting more exercise since I got this saddle...and losing his winter fur!

That looks really light.  Pretty. I had one and my horse loved it !! my husband bought it as a birthday present and it was just smaller than I liked so I sold it but it fit my horse so well.

Yes, it is the lightweight, Rocket Donkey - the only thing I changed was getting an especially wide tree.

I just got a Vern Purdy Performance  barrel saddle. Not the Rocket donkey. I will say it truly fits the horse and rider amazing. Unfortunately might have to sell mine to pay some bills.

Oh no, I'm so sorry about the bills!  I wish you luck selling it - although my saddle tree was a special wide tree, I did try out his standard tree and LOVED it on my other horse.... I just don't have funds to get another at the moment, but a 2nd Performance Built Saddle is on my wish list!

No kidding. I'm waiting for the Purdy I ordered but I would buy another in a heartbeat.  I had to sell one to order my new one & I sure miss the one I sold.
