Tell me about Robbie Phillips Saddles? How do they ride? I know they have a variety of trees and gullets, so if you get one will it fit a variety of horses?
I had a Shiloh Finalist that I LOVED but sold it to get a Martin Stingray because the Shiloh had too much rock in the tree for my horses. The stingray fits our thick, round backed gelding pretty well (definitely better than the shiloh did), but the Stingray is too wide on my growing colt. I love how the Stingray holds your hips in so snug in a turn (staying on my pockets has always been a struggle for me) so I don't necessarily want to switch, just curious and looking at options.
I'll attach pics of my mare in the stingray.
here's my 7inch gullet stingray. The first pad is a 1" 5 star and the smaller pad is a 3/4" 5 star. My mare is only 4 and definitely not done filling out.
Do you still love your Stingray? All I've ridden are Robbie Phillips, but on my good mare, I keep getting thrown forward. She is in the narrowest Robbie, so thinking I can get by with a 7" gullet in the Stingray

Well... I sold my stingray and bought a Robbie! I LOVE it! I sent him pics and got a 6 3/4 with 42 degree bars. I used a shim for about a month and now don't need it. I like the flare in the bars and the flatter seat that allows me to move but still keeps me in position. If you're getting thrown forward the stingray might be just what you're looking for though!
