| Has anyone ever had a dog that gets car sick? Is there anything you have found to do/give them to help? My miniature aussie is 6 months old and he gets car sick and vomits. I like to take my dogs with me any chance I can whether it be just to run quick errands, to barrel races, etc so it's not like he is associating it with something unpleasant like only going to the vet when he gets in the truck or anything like that. He is the first dog I have had that this happens with and I feel bad not taking him with me but I can't deal with the mess and I don't want him feeling bad and vomiting just to go with me. It has happened with him sitting in the front seat, back seat, front floor area so there is no consistency to the area in the truck or anything else. I took him to a 4 day long barrel race which was 2.5 hour drive there, drive all around town for food and stuff while there, and 2.5 hours back and he was fine so I am stumped! |

Location: LouLouVille, OK | I have had good luck with benadryl. You would have to find the dosage per weight for your pooch https://www.drugs.com/medical-answers/how-much-benadryl-can-i-give-my-dog-52673/ I had a 70 lb dog that only took 1-25mg tab, which would be considered low dose, but if I gave her 2, she was drunk lol... it's the same for me! |

Location: Montgomery TX | I was going to suggest Benadryl as well. I had a little chihuahua that would get sick every. single. time I put her in the car. She would throw up one time - and one time only within the first 30-45 minutes of the trip and be fine the rest of the way, even trips over 6-8 hours. I would keep her in her kennel in the backseat with a throw-away towel until she vomited and then throw the towel away and let her loose in the cab. It was just her thing I guess.... I don't know..... That's how we traveled with her for years. Edited to add - your vet may be able to prescribe somthing, if you want to go that route.

Location: Somewhere else | I had a basset hound once that would get sick if he rode in the backseat, but perfect if he rode in the front seat. My friends would either have to share the seat with him or ride in the backseat......lol |

| My Aussie gets VERY car sick. . Dramamine is the only thing that helps. I give it to her 30 min before we leave. It seems to wear off after 3-4 hours and I'll have to give her more if it's a long trip. Without it she can't travel. |

Our vet Rx'ed something for car sickness for our puppies. I don't have one in front of me to see what med it was. But it helps. |

I second the dramamine! I have a large dog who will always get car sick if the ride is longer than 10 minutes or so; he is fine on the dramamine. |

| OTC meclizine. My vet recommended it over dramamine and bendryl because it is less sedating. |
