I have been contemplating trying to get my mare registed through AQHA so that any possible foals that she has could also be registered. She is around 20 years old but she is my heart horse. She has won well over 15k in earnings and countless rodeos, saddles, and even a horse trailer. I have never heard of anyones experience trying to get an older horse registered but would love to hear what others have done!

I do not know her original breeder and I bought her over 14 years ago and can no longer get in touch with the people I bought her from. Would the DNA testing that they do be enough for a registeration?

Registration is the same for any age. 

After a certain age, they have to be parentage verified, getting that from a 20 year old might be hard, because the parents of the mare are probably long gone and never had it done?
