Location: WYOMING | I live right up the road from the Tetons. My favorite place on Earth. What you have listed is a pretty epic road trip. YNP can take a week to see. West Yellowstone has the Wolf and Grizzly Discovery Center which is cool. Do a river float in Jackson, they float in front of the Tetons. Cody has wild horse tours that are neat plus the Buffalo Bill museum which can take 2 days to really get thru. Old Trail Town in Cody is cool also. Enjoy your trip!!

It is an epic trip and it took us over 2 weeks, Yellowstone is amazing. If you are going as far as Mt Rushmore (which I passed on because they don't allow dogs) may I suggest Custer State Park & Crazy Horse Memorial to add to your list. Have fun it's beautiful I did enjoy Jackson Hole and Cody, WY went to their 100th rodeo. Buffalo Bill museum was fantastic. Geronabean Is there a thread somewhere I can read to explain how you went from sunny FL to viewing the Grand Tetons? I always envied you this time of year, however today maybe not so much. Beautiful area but I don't think I could stand the cold. Now if you kept a place in Flordia and summers out West would be the greatest. What I would do if I won the lottery.

No post on this move. Just vacationed out here and decided to stay! Been here almost 2 yrs now. I have always been a mountain girl at heart. They say the Tetons capture your soul and they sure did mine! I live about an hr half from Jackson in a tiny town up in the mountains. We get snow but nothing like Jackson! It gets cold but I like it better than sweating my balls off for 7 months a year! Still have my FL place but it is up for sale. Ill never go back. Not much barrel racing around me so I sold my barrel horses and now have a half Clyde, half mustang which OF COURSE I will pattern!!! She might be the slowest barrel horse alive but she will definately know how to run a set. I also have a nice yella grade cowbred mare I rodeo on when I get the chance.

Wow what beautiful country so happy you like it. I could never understand living in Florida except for January & February, way too hot and buggy and the critters. However I could really enjoy being a trail rider where you live. I understand anything you ride would turn a barrel, my trail horse is very handy and can cut a cow. Some things never change. So happy you like it out West. I never would have believed it but I'm enjoying being a trail rider, I do tend to judge horses on the trail. LOL Since we ride with a big group we used to show horses with, it's like going to a show with no entry fee and way less work. We camp and party and travel around the country trail riding. So far Bryce Canyon was the best but we would love to try your area someday. What a beautiful view you have, but it looks cold. Enjoy ETA: I really like the palomino he looks very handy. My husband bought a draft cross one time, I wanted to kill him. I called him a school bus and he was never going to be anything more, we did not get along. When we went on our Yellowstone, CO, SD, ND & MT we did not take horses, just motor home. Also rode mules in Bryce Canyon. We take our own horses to FL for a couple of weeks in winter and mostly ride in the Midwest.

EXACTLY! Sweat and mosquitos I do not miss! Yes, trails are amazing out here. Gotta watch for grizzlys though :( I got to push 500 head of cattle this summer. We went up and over the mountains and it was like a freaking movie scene. I havent had a chance to really get out if my area but I do look forward to trail riding all over the West. Enjoy the ride!!!! |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Estes is beautiful and if your lucky you can enjoy bumper boats if you don't mind getting wet. But mostly sight seeing. Durango four corners visit the Anatazi ruins in the cliff area worth spending a few days there the town is amazing. Yellowstone will knock your socks off scenery wise it's breath taking. you'll want coolers with sandwiches and drinks so you can enjoy it. |
