| We have one and it seems to really relax them. The first time we used it we noticed that all the dogs in the barn layed down around the horse and were asleep. I guess they could feel it also. However, I will say that if I had it to do over, I would have spent the money on a magna wave. |

Thinking of purchasing a Beamer Blanket - have been having the chiro come monthly and adjust and do magnawave but for two horses looking at $210 a month - wondering if it would be a good investment to purchase a Beamer Blanket.
I don't have a Bemer but I bought a blanket from Respond Systems. I did a lot of research and compaisons and ended up choosing their entire system (neck, blanket, leg wraps, hock wraps). I like that I can put it on, and walk away and go to other things (load the trailer, fill hay bags, put dinner in the oven, etc) and I am not having to stand there and hold coils. It has a 30 minute timer on it and you can run different settings (I usually scan through all the different Hertz levels, 5 to 60). I chose it because it's safe. You can hurt a horse with the Magnawave or other systems if you go too high and don't know what you are doing. So I liked that Resond Systems was "dummy proof". Anyway, this is my 2nd full year with it. I haven't had to inject my mare (who is 7) since I've gotten it so to me, that's pretty good proof. I got it at the end of her 5 year old year, and I did end up having to inject her that year ("normal" hock/stifle soreness that horses get). Maybe it is coincidence .... maybe the darn thing actually works and keeps her feeling good. I try to do sessions 2 to 3 times a week. If it is really hot out, I won't, because you are still putting on a black blanket even though it is mesh. (Just like if you would put on a light jacket when it's 95 degrees out) Last time I had the chiro out about a month ago, he looked at her and said she didn't need anything, didn't touch her, and went to work on my next horse. (My chiro is an odd duck, LOL, but he is GOOD and he knows what he is doing, and he won't fix something that does not need to be fixed!) I have friends who have the Bemer and like it but I can't speak for it. I know their Hertz is much lower than what I have. One of the reasons I did not go wtih them is that I couldn't treat the whole body at once (you have to oddly move the leg wraps around) and that they wouldn't answer my questions about treatment depth and such, so that really turned me off. Respond Systems was an open book and answered all of my questions without hesitation. |
