| I heard a wicked story of a horse falling out of a trailer this past weekend and by the grace of God walked away. what happened: The bolt that held the latch part(female part) on the left just wore out and broke allowing the drop down bar to release and free the horse to the pavement at 75 miles an hour. He is ok with minor cuts and sore muscles. A car stopped behing the truck and trailer and watched him walk off to a field and start to graze-thank God. Had the butt bar been used it may have been even worse. I never check those things-until now- just a heads up. Please travel safe this rodeo season. |

Location: Florida | Two weekend's ago I witnessed a horse get dragged behind and then fall out of a trailer. I'm sorry but these people had no business putting a horse in the trailer period. The people were entering the show grounds and hit a bump and the horse hit a back panal out got stuck on the butt bar. The lady continued to drive with 100 people screaming for her to stop and then the horse finally flipped out...It was hard to watch. The horse was ok but had an injured knee. |

Hey I was there to and I have to totally agree with you. Where do these people come from? Me and Blvd have an very impolite term for some of the people we saw at that show. I witnessed a few things that got my blood pumping! What horse were you riding? I was horseless but I was there with Blvd and her grey...oops I mean white Appy. |

That happened to my friend last year. She won a two horse trailer and was on the highway with it. The door somehow got open and her horse went through the butt bar. He flew head over heels out onto the highway!! He did get up and was pretty gashed up. She doctored him for about two weeks, (took her two hours in the morning and two hours at night!!) But, he developed a serious bone infection and had to be put down. She tried so hard, I felt so bad!! |

I still go check for myself too. I double check when I hook up myself also. My daughter (she knows better) & son-in-law don't. Years ago at a barrel run, someone loosened our bumper pull thank goodness we made it home without any accidents. When we started unloading horses, it poped up and started rolling backwards. It scared the H*LL out of us. I don't know why it didn't pop-up when we loaded them. It was not broken, someone unhooked it. Ever since then, we have double checked everything. |

Location: At The End of The Red Dirt Road | I think I am lucky this week -- I am waiting on my new trailer to come in, so have my son's 3h bp as I am trading it in on my new one and gave him the one I had...anyway - leave the house half asleep Saturday morning and we always put a clip on the double back doors - I forgot the clip AND did not flip the top part of the latch around right. The good news is I had to fill up on my way out of town so noticed it only a mile down the road! I never tie in, so the colt in the back would have been toast for sure! I bet I double check it before leaving the driveway from now on |

Location: Texas | The same thing happened to us this weekend. We forgot to put the clip on and didn't flip the top part of the latch down. We saw blue lights and thought we were being stopped. About that time I looked in the mirror and saw the trailer door open. I panicked, but luckily my horse was okay. He was just riding along like usual. I thank God for that policeman being there. We had been to Ada and had terrible runs. We were on our way home and of course griping about our runs. We are always very thankful for everything that God has blessed us with, but sometimes get caught up in other things (e.g. griping about bad runs, etc.) After we got back on the road, we went from whining and griping to thanking the one above for all that we have. |

Who on earth would take their back door off and depend on a butt bar to keep the horse in. |

| This is why I don't like the straight load trailers. I keep nagging to get another slant load. I want a 5 horse even though we only have 4 we can haul around. I like to leave the last slant empty just in case. And yes I do use a straight load 2 horse for now. |

The answer to your question, is in your question..... it's "MORON or as I would put it, a Dumb*ss! Someone that would do this doesn't care verymuch about their horse or horses. |
