Martha's feeling better and reading her favorite magazine "Southern Horseman". Tracy Thompson
editor of "Southern Horseman" was one of many friends who was by Martha's side in the hospital
during her stay at Brackenridge Trauma Center, in Austin, Texas.

I wanted to thank the many people who helped me thru my accident at the
Austin Rodeo.  Doctor Moore who first got to me said it was a very close call. I had
two fractures in my skull, seven broken ribs, a punctured lung and a fractured
pelvis.  A big Thank You goes out to all of the Doctors and the wonderful staff at the
Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas who took such good care of me and to the
Justin Sports Medicine Team who were at the Rodeo.  To all my friends who have
called, emailed, sent flowers, cards and gift or who have come by to see me, thank
you, I appreciate each and every one of you so much. Thanks also to the many
people who took time out of their very busy schedules to come and help me and to
Laura Rogers and Deb Brown who never left my side while I was in the hospital bed
for the first few days, it not only helped me, but it sure made it easier on Josey. You
are all so wonderful. I spent Wednesday night, March 17 thru Saturday morning,
March 27 in the hospital and that Saturday night in the motor home, coming home.
R.E., my nephews Gary Arthur and Hunter Arthur, and my friend Frank Snell
were all with me and brought me home.  My doctor, Dr. John Adams, was waiting for me.

The Josey Ranch never looked better. My dog Butch and Red Man Bay were
waiting for me too. Red Man Bay is a little sore but no broken bones so with time he
will heal. Pamella Randall and Heather Dickson did a wonderful job of getting him home.
The weekend of my accident, Josey and I had a Barrel Racing and Horsemanship
Clinic scheduled in Topeka, KS. It was held on March 26-28, 2004. Thank goodness
I had Team Josey, my boys, Ty Mitchell, Chad Crider and Chris  Martin,
to go do it for me. I sure wish that R.E. and I could have been there for the Clinic
ourselves. We missed seeing Carol and Chief Tenpenny and all of the wonderful
students that came.  It was a very successful Clinic.  It was our 25th Clinic in a
row at Topeka. We have three more Clinics coming up in April, here at the Ranch,
Spring I, April 2-4, Easter, April 9-11, and Spring II, April 16-18, plus the Reunion,
and Jr. World.  Our Clinics will go on as scheduled. I have always been happy to say
we have never cancelled a Clinic.

Everyone here at the Ranch is looking forward to the Reunion, April 30-
May 2, for all our former Josey Students, but if you’re not a student, there’s still
time. Ride in a Josey Clinic before April 30th and you can enter this year’s Reunion.
New this year for the Reunion, Purina will award Β½ Ton of Purina Feed to the Top
Money Earner Barrel Racer and to the Top Money Earner Roper who are already
using Purina Feed.  There will also be $5,000.00 added money for the 4-D Reunion
Barrel Race and $1,500.00 added money for the Jr. and Sr. Calf Roping. We hope to
see last years winners, Whitney O’Neal (1D), Caroline Dodwell (2D), Sandra Jagot (3D),
and Jo Ellen Cowan (4D) defending their barrel racing titles. We also hope
to see Chip Johnson, Sr. Calf Roping Champion, and Josh Fisher, Jr. Calf Roping
Champion, defending their titles as well. The Jr. World is next, May 7-9, open to all youth
barrel racers age 20 and under. There’s still time to get that entry in to compete for an estimated
$150,000.00 in cash, prizes and scholarships for 2004.  Remember, you can always register and
get clinic information online or call 903-935-5358 and one of our staff will be happy to help you.

I have come thru this same type of accident back in June of 1982 but at that
time I was thrown from a horse in our arena. I am a survivor and want you all to know
that my spirits are great.  I have a big belief that in God all things are possible.
He is not ready for me to hang up my hat yet!  Again, thank you for all your wonderful thoughts
and prayers. I am fine and will be back in the saddle again soon.  R.E. and I are looking forward
to visiting with everyone at the Reunion and Jr. World again this year. I thank my
Lord, Jesus Christ, for a quick recovery. I want you all to know that all of your prayers
certainly have helped me. I am getting stronger and feeling better by the minute.

Love and God Bless,

Martha
