Location: Western performance horse Hades | After reading the other thread on men at the Turn-N-Burn, I noticed some one mentioning the post careers of men trained/ridden futurity horses. So help me out here. I know that the leading futurity horses that have been trained by women have had successful rodeo careers afterward -- Willy Nick Bar, I Am Not Te, Easy Dash Oak and I do know of a few horses trained by men that are successful with women riders Risky Chris is the first to come to mind and any of the horses trained by James Ward or Dale Youree. I also recognize that men can't rodeo so some of these top horse go on to 4D greatness after their aged event careers. Who are some of the other horses campaigned by men that have gone on to great success after they turn 7? |

I can think of a lot of WPRA horses that started in the futurities but were trained by women. HMMMMM makes you wonder what all the fuss is about?!(women/men thing)Personally I would rather have one for the long run. |

Uh, cause your Wranglers don't swing left and right? or if you hang your shirt on a saddle horn and pop buttons, it's no big deal???? I dunno Giddy. I'm sure if you wore your truck washing outfit they'd let you run |

| Well, here are the one's that came from the Youree/Ward Ranch. Van Eagles Lil Dude, Cole & Cole, & Janet Stover's BO. And for you oldies there was Missy Long, and Jackie Jo Perrins, Boss, Marilyn Duplissey, IPRA horse that went on to the NFR. |

| In my opinion, a lot (not all) of the horses i see win/run at futurities with guys on them looks like they get brain chains put on them, sent in there 9-0 and then jerked around the barrel hoping the horse will turn!...that is why i dont think a lot of girls can ride these horses trained by (some) of the men because they are to strong!..and a lot of the NFR horses run free with no tie down and just kinda glide!..but thats just my opinion! |

One that came to mind quick was the late great Bunnys Trucker... Rare Ghost... Angeleta Moon... Proper Rebel...they are more, give me a little while!!! Three of those that you mentioned Dan were ridden by Talmadge. My Hawk(recently deceased), that was trained by Will Lear...was also owned and ridden successfully by Michael Green and Jessie Childs and made me a really nice Rodeo horse. My new horse Speedy(Hawks Brother), was trained and ridden also by Will and certainly will go on and make me a nice rodeo horse as well. Cody Bauserman did real well on a Futurity colt of mine, Shawnee Voodoo Flit, and he was also easy to ride behind. VooDoo is now making a High School girl a really nice horse. The guys are sure getting a bad report card about their skills and techniques for some reason... I have found all of the ones that I have rode behind have all been very helpful in trying to explain why they do what they do... I have learned tons from Talmadge and Cody and Jim Warner...all of who were generous with their time and information. I went to try a horse recently...and I was really unfamilar with the style in which it had been trained.. I commented that the last 2 horses that I had owned were ridden by one of "The Boys" and that I was still stuck in that style. The seller quipped that she was unaware that any of "The Boys" had a style at all. I thought that that comment reflected what alot of folkes opinions were and thought it sad... |

| Oh i definitly think that they make some nice horses..and can ride awsome!...i wouldnt hesitate to put one of them on my horses or send a young one to them!...i just think they have a little bit more power then some girls (like me) and if the horse is stronger then they would be able to ride them better!...i cant really get out what i am trying to say ive been sitting here for 10 minutes lol but i am not dissing them at all! |

| My good horse who's passed on was trained and futuritied by Bobby Stivers. I did have to change my style a little, but i'll change anyday to fit a winning horse-wouldn't you? And FYI-you could NOT pull and muscle this horse. If you pulled on him going to the first barrel, he'd just run to the fence and stop. He was TRAINED to run barrels, not be muscled around. I'm riding behind one of the greats right now as Dale Youree trained him. |

Very well said, I've got to second (or third) that one! There is "style" there, not just "rippin' n jerkin'". Glad to hear about VooDoo! |
