Kinda like Latte last year.....everyone kept talking about how he was a DFP, who doesn't need any introduction, but I personally ran against his dam and she was a wicked little mare that was almost impossible to outrun. I think you would have seen her at the NFR had she not gotten a career ending injury fairly young. Take Hotshot....his sire didn't sire another decent barrel horse, but if you look at his DAM...she was by a son of Master Hand out of a Talent Bar mare and those lines have produced scores of good barrel horses. I don't think people give enough credit to the CROSS that makes those freakishly talented horses. It's not all the stud.
Dash Ta Fame has sired the most NFR qualifiers with 8 (Real Claim Ta Fame, Swivel Ta Fame, Gonna Be Famous, Repete Fame, Dash Ta Vanila, JL Dash Ta Heaven, Fantasia Fame, Judge My Fame). Jet Of Honor has had 3 (Loto Jet, Fun Jet, Band Of Honor, you could even say 4 if you count Jet A Beam who Ember Givens rode but didn't get to run at the NFR and instead ran Band Of Honor). But I do agree that it is the CROSS that makes a horse successful, not just the sire. Look at the horse that just won the BFA Slot Race. His dam was Pie Sky Promises - barrel horse and great producer and she is out of Joyous Bugs who was a great producer as well. |

Allbreed has accolades to Bo & Taylor already!!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH .. I like to update the winning horses and riders at major events so that my one brain cell does not get confused after the event is over and done ..
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/honor+thy+Frenchman
Looking at his pedigree this was a well planned breeding by the stallion owner!!
Jet Of Honor horses were a holy terror in the NW and after coming to Oklahoma his new owner Dan Dailey of Tupelo Ok only charged $250 and would line up 100 barrel mares per season and then the last couple of years he went to $500. I had 3 mares checked in cycle and was in line to be one of the owners to get their mares bred the morning he had a heart attack on the dummy. JOH semen was usually extended to service 10 mares per breeding shed event.

I completely agree----I don't put much on sires other than getting hopefully some conformation. BUT- I am a nurture over nature type- a good strong mama will always give you a better baby than a good strong daddy- IMO.
People concentrate on the sires- but a dam is where I put my money. |

I agree. I think the mare plays into the equation 75 to 80%. |

Well dang! I thought it was all the stud!! I'm not sure if I want to breed my 2 unregistered Tennesee Walker/ mustang crosses that the only barrel they have seen is a feed barrel.......
Just joking!!!!!!!
You would be surprised how many people my way think it's the stud playing the huge part of the breeding lol. |

My trainer has always said that too about the dams.
I saw in an interview where Taylor said she thought her Mom had found that diamond in the rough when she found Bo. Did he not excel at futurities? He sure had a great hand on his back with Marne, he obvioulsy had great training for Taylor to start winning on him as quickly as she did.

********************************************************
I was hoping you would acknowledge doing the photos and I appreciate
you sharing them with me years ago. At the time not many home
computer users had scanners to share pictures with others. Fax
machines were still the main source of copying and sending ... lol
As you can see they are the best pictures available of JOH ....
if you have them separated or as they are... please scan each
one as a historical event and share again since the copying and
internet are much better now.
I would like to add them separately to a SIRES FILE I have that
has over 4000 entries in it ... shame each time I buy a new
computer or Microsoft does some type of upgrade they seem
to lose some of their original clearness and detail .. or change
sizes etc etc ..
THANK YOU ... IF YOU CAN SHARE THEM AGAIN ... I have sent
you my email address so you do not have to downsize them
below 100kb and lose any details etc etc .. I would like to put
them in my SIRES FILE .. with as many pixels as possible ... lol ..
FYI: these were taken in TUPELO OK .. that is Dan Dailey holding
JOH and his white pipe pens and his little red barn on the hill ...
the past several years Dan has been standing NO COMPROMISES ...

Geez Louise, it drives me crazy when people pick out ONE HORSE 7 generations back and say that's the way the horse is bred....it's so diluted by then that you wouldn't get much anyway. smh |

| On a side note, Taylor is one of the best hands on a rodeo horse that I have seen in a long time. She is aggressive without being rough, she is gritty and smooth at the same time. That is one talented young lady. Super nice horse, but I don't know that anyone else could ride him like she does. Go girl. |

I agree with this. I have one of the nicest horses I've ever owned right now (out of a JOH dam) and I can't ride him! He scares me to death running to the 1st, but I can put my young jockey on him and he looks like he could go to the NFR and maybe he could with that kind of jockey, but he sure won't go with me. (He's in my signature, wink, wink) The jockey makes a huge difference as well. |
