Has anyone done it? Opinions? Or other workout regimens that helped with your fitness? I HATE to run- looking for something to improve my riding level!

A friend of ours owns a CrossFit gym. He is RIPPED. It is not a workout that is easy by anymeans, It is pushing your limits to the extreme in a shorter time frame by reps that are weighted to be to the benefit of strength and cardio. If you want to get your core in shape, and the rest of your body without being at the gym for hours.. this is the way to do it.

Not too bulky, not too lean.. if you get a proper instructor

I use to go and I love it. Only not going now because the time of day doesn't work well for a single mom with a son in school and hockey. I also hate running. They do make us run in crossfit but it's somehow barabul (have no idea how to spell that). What I love about it is there is no looking at your watch wondering if it is over yet (ie spin class). You do the workout, then you pretty much lay on the floor and want to die. Love crossfit!!!

I just started 3 weeks ago and boy is it a workout.  I crave it now.  If you get in with a good place, they really push you and support you. Most trainers will modify if you can not do the moves. It is intense sometimes, but I can see a difference already.  My husband and I actually did two workouts the other day and I really felt it the next day. I really enjoy it and can not wait to go back tonight

We used to do it last semester for our morning workouts for rugby and it was fantastic! We also had an insanely hot trainer that made it that much better. If you want a series of exercises that will push you and use muscles you didn't know you had, do crossfit. It doesn't ever get boring and it keeps you working the whole time and you WILL feel it the next day. If you go hard enough you will feel it within the next hour haha. My whole team had a love/hate relationship with crossfit. WE were in a lot better shape and were able to get faster, stronger, and leaner. I definitely recommend it.

I tried it but really didn't care too much for it. Maybe it was just the one I went to. I didn't really see any physical changes but I could feel my stamina getting better. So it does give you a workout, just not my thing.

I am just finishing my third month. Love it. Love it. Love it.  If you like variety and working really hard this is for you.  Every day is a different workout and could include any variety of the following, pushups, burpees, box jumps, pull ups, kettlebell swings, planks, wallballs, running carrying a 25# plate, olympic lifting. It is fantastic and the way I look at is this... If you want to look different you have to DO things differently - Crossfit is that for me.
in three months I've toned up considerably, but its not just that, you get to the point where you crave to lift heavier, do more reps, be stronger...the health benifts are just a bonus.
I deadlifted my own body weight today 18 times

do it!
one last thing - I think it is important to find a gym with people who know what they are doing.  You can hurt yourself in a hurry without proper form and or too much weight to start out.

I had knee surgery about 3 years ago so I'm a little worried about trying it. But I think I will give it a go. Just going to start out slow!

I'm gonna step on a soap box here for a minute....if you want to become stronger and faster safely then crossfit is not the way to go. 90% of the trainers do NOT know proper lifting technique and it will get you hurt. Look at the statistics from crossfit...physical therapist and orthapedic surgeons have seen a huge increase in business thanks to crossfit. Yes you will see results in a short time because of the intenisty of the workout, however intensity and volume cannot both be at high levels, like crossfit tries to do. And the long term results you won't see. Most of the athletes who do crossfit and DO NOT get hurt are those who already know proper technique, however these people will never get stronger. 90% of the workouts done in cross fit are useless....kipping pull ups---are you serious? Are we training our momentum muscles here????

Now, I know you're probably thinking that I'm a hater sitting on my couch eating potato chips...I workout in a Starting Strength gym (look it up on google, pretty cool). I am 5'5, 120lbs....I back squat 205 for reps, deadlift 225 for reps, bench 120 for reps, standing press 100 for reps, clean 150 for reps, and snatch 120 for reps, and do 20 dead hang pullups and do weighted pull ups. I feel better and look better than I ever have before, I don't have back or knee pain like I used to from old sprinting injuries, and I am so much stronger than I ever have been...the best part is I don't walk out of the gym and need a step ladder to get in my truck. I rarely experience sore muscles and when I do it's more of a discomfort than a pain. And I go up every week on weights. I competed against crossfit women in my area and out performed my weight class and 98% of the two weight classes over me....

There are thousands of exercise regimines out there, just please please please do your homework and don't go with a fad....intense fad workouts are the private island sponsors of health care individuals. Just do your homework, be safe, and do something you will enjoy. I am an athlete and always have been and I've never seen results like I do with Starting Strength.
