It has been almost 5 months since I was bucked off a horse we were trying out and ended up with a concussion/stitches. Before the accident I had sold my current horse, to buy a horse I could use more for trail riding and slower barrel racing (the advantages of age) lol! Anyhow, after we passed on the horse I was trying out.. we prayed and prayed and prayed that the Lord would lead me in the right direction! We ended up buying a handsome chocolate palomino/dun gelding and he has been such a confidence builder. I have been riding him for 2 months now, and tomorrow we are hauling to an indoor arena for me to try him on barrels for the first time.. and I am nervous!! Any encouraging words, or stories would be great! Thank you! P.S. I now ride with a helmet!

Just get on and do it! That sense of relief and accomplishment you feel afterwards will be awesome!

If you need a story...I also had a bad wreck. I was bucked off and drug. I ended up with a severe concussion and bruised kidney. I don't remember any of it, but it was enough to make me terrified of riding again. I ended up trading that mare for an older gelding and he has been the biggest blessing! He has been challenging for sure, but also such a confidence booster! He waits for me when I need him to, pushes me when I don't know that I need it, and never, ever offers to buck or be dangerous. I ENJOY riding again! I hope you will too!
