I am thinking about purchasing a Theraplate. Does anyone know of any vets backing them? I'd like to hear some vets opinions on them

How long has your hospital been using it and what Kim of issues have you seen results with?

The sports medicine vet at my school spoke at a seminar recently and someone in the audience asked for his opinion on the vibrating plates.  He said that at one track, he knew one trainer that took all of their horses there, and there was a different trainer that tried it that said it did nothing.  He said he had a friend (human) that had back problems and stood on the plate 3 days in a row.  The first two days he said his back had never felt better, and he was amazed.  The third day he woke up he could hardly walk and swore he'd never set foot on one again, lol!
What my professor was getting at was that so far everything- in his knowledge- is just hearsay.  He is open to them and he knows that there's a lot of people that feel they help.  But he said he didn't have a reason to recommend them or really offer an opinion on them.

This is a great question. I have asked 4 different vets and all have been sketchy. None knew of any scientific studies. I stood on one (I don't like the feeling) but my knee did feel way better afterward.

All the information I have heard, read and been told is anecdotal, not scientific. I have heard mostly GREAT stories, but a few not great.

Our winning horse had done it 3 times, and she LOVED it. Grumpy horse but loves any and all therapeutic treatments. She loves magnets, loves massage, laser, ice water, game ready anything. Maybe she just loves the attention :)

But I would love to read some studies, or science behind it.

Preliminary studies on humans in published, peer reviewed medical journals say, yes they help with increasing bone density, due to the involuntary muscular contraction initiated by the parasympathetic nervous system from vibration. In my humble opinion, if the science is showing this for humans I would chance it on my horse, due to the bone density increase alone, further studies are being conducted to prove other benefits. If you have the funds, worth a try!)

I just purchased one after researching it talking with my human chiropractor and asking numerous people their results... The results these girls sent me with major problems were amazing and I could not not try it... hated to spend the money but worth the try!
