I use USPS. They've been cheaper than UPS or Fed Ex.

I shipped mine through Fed-ex. We ship so much at work that I was able to send it 2 day for $16 where usps would have been $28.

I ship through USPS too..its cheaper and faster here than UPS
(I am in Tennessee
). It usually cost me about $55 insurance included to ship a saddle as long as its not far out on the west coast but I believe shipping is much higher in different zones. I can ship a saddle to Louisiana for about $35 but for some reason
(rates are higher there maybe
) the same saddle shipped from LA to me in TN cost nearly double that.

I dont know how anyone does it. By the time I get it in a box large enough to fit without damaging anything, shipping costs, and insurance, it is close to $100.

Being able to do things through work helps alot. The last saddle I purchased the seller was quoted $65 plus extra for insure to ship to me at a UPS store. I could do the shipping label through work and it was only $45 with insurance. So I made up the label and mailed it to her and she put it on the box and shipped it. Worked out great. As for boxes when I know I am going to be thinking about selling a saddle I start watching our shipping and recieving docks and start putting word out that I am looking for a bigger box. Have not had to buy one yet. You can be creative and and even put 2 boxes together to make one. Or if it is too big cut it down to make it smaller. and I find rags around the house to wrap up the horn and wedge in by the cantle you just have to be creative to do it on the cheap. Or I steal packing material from stuff we get shipped into work and stuff that in where needed. Sometimes this job really does pay off. :

Avg cost is $50. I just used the USPS for the first time last week and it was $45 with insurance. I have paid as much as $75 with Fedex or UPS.
As far as boxes- toilet paper boxes from Walmart or restuarants work well for me. Just bubble wrap the horn super well and Ive not had any trouble.

USPS, bubble wrap the horn and anything else you don't want possibly damaged, and pack full of packing peanuts. The box has to be certain dimensions or else you will be charged an extra like $38!!.....found that out the hard way when I grabbed the wrong box and went to ship and it cost me like $80 to ship the saddle

If you go to a "shipping store", it is going to be a lot more expensive than if you can go the UPS terminal & ship from there.
