Are you relatively young, or maybe new to the sport?

I would suggest investing in some barrel racing dvd's. There are some great ones out there that are very educational, with a lot of basic info. Also, is there anyone you look up to in your area that you could ride with? Most people are happy to help if you are just bold enough to ask.

I suggest all this because your question is very very broad. It's hard to give a specific answer to such a general question. Hope it helps and welcome to the board!

Any videos that you may have of your horse running barrels would be helpful.

I had the same problem with my mare. What I did was I put a cone about 4 feet from the barrel and went in between the cone and the barrel. Eventually she will get used to turning tight and you wont even need a cone. She will just do it. Good luck to you and your mare. :)
