FOR SURE, if you have not had these mares on a regular deworming schedule, you can make them sick by using ivomec (ivermectin) or quest (moxidectin) dewormers the first go round. I would highly suggest using strongid (pyrantel pamoate), or panacure (fenbendazole) to start. Depending on when the mares foal, use the ivermectin 30 days before the due date. Also make sure the mares get their rhino (EHV-1) 5, 7, and 9 months. |

Got the rhino shots done, and my recip mare has been on a good schedule, but the other mare has just been turned out and I actually haven't laid a hand on her since May when she was bred. Her and the other pasture ornaments are just running like wild mustangs, so she needs to be brought in and grained and wormed and stay in til she has her baby. Thanks for the help! |

Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | Worm with something to get bots. Quest or Ivermectin. The mare that hasn't been wormed regular, start with something mild. Strongid or safegard. Followed by something stronger. But before long make sure you worm with something that gets tapeworms as well. Zimectrin Gold or Quest Plus. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | I've used Quest Plus on mine this time of year, ever since they started making it. Never had a problem. I use ivermectin immediately after they foal. |
