Clone question
The Painted Power Slapper

I was reading the Clayton thread about the HotShot clones. So once they clone a horse, do they not keep the clone sample on file to clone at a later date, or do they use all the sample. Meaning, since HotShot is gone, and his clones have died except for Another Shot, can he not be cloned again?

They freeze and store the cell line used for cloning and bank it. So yes, they can be cloned again as long as the owner paid for the cells to be cultured and stored.

Makes sense to me. If you are going to spend the money to culture the cells, I'd save some. I think they charge quite a bit just to get the cell line going before they even proceed to cloning. Storage costs are likely minimal in comparison.

What did the others die from.
On another note I just can't see that cloning is going to get you the same results. I really feel that there is just to many things that go into making a horse be what they are like enviroment and such. I mean you aren't going to be able to reproduce the way Hotshot or any other horse was raised and I think that has a great deal to do with the outcome.
