if banamine doesn't work, that's where I'm heading (or if things go south)
either that or my cell phone and a good vet's number |

Location: Idahome | I keep the Kolik Eaz made by Silver Lining in my trailer at all times. Banamine does nothing for colic, just relaxes the muscles. |

| How can you say Banamine does nothing? Banamine really doesn't help relax muscles all that much, it relieves pain. Thus horse will stop thrashing, biting, further hurting themselves in the process. A lot of vets will also give a muscle relax shot , can't remember the name off the top of my head. If a horse continues in pain they can twist a gut.. |

| Banamine is designed to relax the spasms of the small muscles in the intestinal tract. It is a great medicine to use for colic.
We just went through this. We lost our 4 year old daughter's horse to complications after colic surgery. The mare fought for 2 weeks but her colon quit working. It is very heartbreaking. At this point we are on edge with all the other horses, it has been a very rough 3 weeks. Now we are back in the process of finding another horse. I'm going to totally lose it if my daughter asks for a horse from Santa. Santa is trying but they aren't easy to find. |

| Banamine and ace at the first sign of problems.
Vet very quickly after that if symptoms do not get better in short time.

Is this a herb too? How fast does it work if you just give it by mouth? |

Just to take the edge off. Most will be agitated at best and it seem to help keep them calm and manageable while working the situation out. |

| Electrolyte paste is a must have too for colic. Banimine and a tube of eletrolyte paste are the first items I reach for. If it's a mild case, I might forego the banimine at first but I always give them a tube of electrolytes. |

Absolutely wrong. Banamine is an NSAID, and is very potent at relieving pain. It also has endotoxin binding abilities. An absolute MUST HAVE in the face of colic. |
