Well I just found out my horse is enrolled in the incentive fund
(after 5 years of running shows
). My question is: how does it work? Is there anything I have to do to cash in on this before the shows start in January?

You get paid for the AQHA points you acquire at AQHA shows. The amount they pay each year changes. The last time I went to AQHA shows on an incentive fund horse, they were paying about $34.00 a point so if you are in an area where there are a lot of entries, it can be a very nice check at the end of the year.

Now you have to pay a yearly nomination fee to recieve money back at the year end.. I think it's $50 for open and another $50 for amater. Lately the payback has been around the mid $20's per point
If you think you will get open or amateur points it could be worth it. If showing youth or novice then it's a waste of money.

And you'll be waiting months to see anything. I've seen a lot of AQHA folks upset over waiting so long for their checks.

Well apparently accorded to his performance records he has racked up over $300 and I haven't seen a cent. Still waiting for my check from World this year. AQHA is on my last nerve
