I went the first weekend! Nothing really exciting except when I was walking back from the Sands I sat down at a quarter machine to rest and stuck a twenty in and won $500! More shopping money!!! Played Texas Holdem for 8 hours straight the 1st nite! Got to see Billy Etbauer!! My all time favorite! Really miss not seeing him ride!

Meeting with Sherry the first morning. So relaxed I was amazed. Wish I could have made it back down to celebrate tonight.

Michael won the fast time out of the #13 World Series roping out of over 1200 runs at the South Point...haven't found out for sure, but someone said it was the fast time out of all of the ropings, which would be kind of cool I guess. Missed 3rd steer to make the short, but better than going home empty handed.

I don't know about must sees and all that, it's Vegas, everything is pretty sweet. I will say though that I hate staying at the South Point. It is so far from everything... but our horses stay there and it is where the roping is, so that's where we stay. If you DO stay at the South Point you will definitely be money ahead if you rent a car. It's a $40 cab ride one way to the strip from South Point. Really sucks. I also get really bothered by all of the smoke in the casinos, wish they would get the smoking ban rolling down there.

Just got back :) my second time going. Shopping and NFR environment definitely the only reason I'd go to Vegas but that stuff totally makes it fun.

Exciting stuff: Lucked into front row center tickets behind the #2-3 chutes because of mad dash tickets.. That was AMAZING INCREDIBLE OUT OF THIS WORLD. Hubby took video of Sherry,Taylor and Lisa. Will post links.

And got to meet and talk with Guy McLean - he was riding a colt front a barn I used to work at which was pretty cool.

All in all loved the trip :)

We love the SouthPoint and is the only place we will stay. It is like home and we feel safe there.

We stayed the first night at the Flamingo and it was the total pits. Our daughter got stuck in the garage elevator. We didn't have any hot or even warm water. The atmosphere sucked along with all the foreigners running us over. We checked out the next morning and got a room at the SouthPoint. I like that it is out by itself. I didn't like the strip at all and was glad to get out of there.

First 2 flights - cancelled! Took 3 hours for 45 minute trip to airport. Finally get there - great weather, hubby won about $800 - woohoo shopping $$! Next day, girl sitting for animals calls - rope horse is colicing. He's ok - that is why we left the banamine - prone to do this sometime.

Just got home last night.

All in all had a great time! It's about our ?? who know how many times we've been. Always great time tho.

I definitely understand that, it's not a dumpy hotel by any means and they treat us well. For me, I like to frequent the strip, and it is inconvenient. The stalling facility is nice and the arena is outstanding. The rooms are big and very comfortable. The South Point definitely has positive attributes! My post came off a lot more negative than I care to be, sorry!

I am still here, in the press room for the NFR, at the moment. This has been a wonderful trip, stayed at the Mandalay this year and loved it! We rented a car this year, definitely better than taking cabs. I didnt make it to South Point, have been to busy. We fly out on the red eye in a few hours :
