I've started running a big gelding with a bowed tendon.  He bowed it about 2 1/2 years ago on a back leg on the lower 1/2 of the tendon.  Any suggestions how to wrap his legs or treatments/therapy to prevent a re-bow?

I would do a number of things
- keep him fit and exercised
- ice after runs or hardwork
- use good no bow standing wraps when hauling
- use a centurion mini pulse to keep the legs strong. I am a rep for centurion because of my own success treating injury on my own horses with PEMT.
- give a quality supplement with msm that supports tissue health

I agree with icing after a run.  Also Icy tight poultice when iin stall with no bnow wraps.  I would also use  a Respond Laser or a Theraplate as maintenance.  As far as supplements, there is one named Tight Joints plus that is geat and affordable.

I agree with both the above posts. Another thing to consider is if there is place close to you with an underwater treadmill that is a really good way to get a horse in good shape and its not as hard on them, IMO. Somethings to be aware of are the ground conditions you run or ride him in, deep ground is really hard on tendons and ligaments. If I run my horse in deep ground I usually sweat her legs that night with runners relief, you also may want to get some BOT or PHT quick wraps to put on him before you run him to help increase circulation to the area and warm him up a little. I also like the tough 1 ice boots, you put them in a freezer then you can put them on your horses legs after you run him, they stay soft and flexible. I think the main thing is making sure he is in good shape when you run him and be mindful of ground conditions. Good Luck!
