Just curious as to what the difference between the two is beside the name? Are they comparable in quality and comfort?

The price! The Lazy L is their "economy" brand sort to speak.

What is the reason for such a large price difference?

I'm not sure, I don't think the quality (as in leather etc.) is less but maybe its made in more of an assembly line type manner and are designed by Larry but not overseen directly by him?  Just me speculating...

You are pretty spot on. The pieces are likely made by a shop- more so machine made vs hand made- like for instance the seat piece in the original is one solid piece but the Lazy L is likely several pieces under the ground seat which cuts the cost. Hand stitched vs machine- things like that.

I heard from someone that rode in both that she felt like the Lazy l sat he legs back a little further than the original. She sold it and got another original. I have noticed in some of the pics of the Lazy L that the stirrups are hung a little further back. I do know people that have the Lazy L and like them. If you call I am sure Larry will explain the difference to you, he is very nice.

I've rode in a Lazy L for many years now.  It is still in great condition and fits my horse and me well.  I would buy another one.
