I have experience with LTF himself...what a nice horse. I know his owner very well and got to meet Leader last year while he was here in So Cal. I love the way he's put together and he looks way better in person that you see in the pictures.
I know Ryann Pedonne has
(or had
) a very nice 1D barrel horse by LTF - Nastee Leader and she loves that horse and has a yearling by Leader out of a DTF mare, so keep an eye out for that one in a few years.

Darrel Henry and Stormi
(they get on here
) used to own him he was purchased by Erin Chrisman Goings, and still resides with her I think.
Ryan really likes them and others that have his colts are singing their praises. I'd like to try one..

For a barrel prospect, would breeding to a running bred mare be too much run?

No, I think he crosses great on run. I would really like to breed my Casady Casanova daughter to him.

I believe that Special Leader on Easily Smashed mares is one of the magic crosses like DFC on Beduino and some of the other great crosses. Our good 1D mare is bred very similiar to Lead The Field, being by Special Leader and out of a Easily Smashed mare. Ours is a full sister to Offlee Special who won a go at the BFA Futurity and also a full sister to I B Irresistible, who was campaigned and won with Priscilla Hubbard and Talmadge. We love the mind and the ability that this cross exhibits. Laid back and easy going til its game time, then Lucy bar the door when its time to win some money. We will definitely be crossing some of our A Dash Of Color daughters onto Lead The Field.
