Like I'm neglecting my barn babies lately(yes, they being fed and taken care of)! Gosh, I feel horrible for some reason. I feel like I haven't been spending as much time in the barn with them this winter.

In the spring/summer/fall I am out there most of the day! But I am not a winter person and I honestly haven't ridden once since the end of November. I don't think any of them even realize it hahahah but I started feeling guilty today and spent 3 hours out there tonight grooming and loving on them!!! I do believe they enjoyed that though!!

Anybody else go through this??

Yep! Live in PA, blaming it on the weather this year. Last year we were diehards but this year the wind has really made it tough; not just the cold temperatures. Most of our shows have been canceled due to the weather too so I don't really have one to look forward to.

I could not survive a month of not riding. AHHH!!!

The other day a friend asked me if it was ever too cold for me to ride.

The week before that I got lectured from another friend saying I better not ride when we had 40 below temps.

Although I was NOT planning on riding in 40 below temps...I did get a laugh out of it.

In my mind perfect practice makes perfect, and you only get better by putting hours in the saddle. Althought I dislike the cold I refuse to let it stop me from riding! Most people probably think I am crazy because of this.

Hopefully, you will be back in the saddle soon!

My guys don't miss me one bit as long as they get hay feed and water :).  I do pull blankets once a week to brush and check them over.  I check legs every day when I feed.  Other then that.......I'm cleaning and remodeling the heck out of my house :)

This is how my horses feel!

I was seriously getting on here to post that picture!!! Oh I did ride my mare around the pasture to check all the fence and gates before I turned everyone out a couple times but that doesn't exactly count lol. None of mine have blankets this year and I clean feet every few days but that's about it other than feeding and turning them out and bringing them in....oh and the dreaded stall cleaning. That sure does stink during the winter!!!!

I know exactly what you mean!!  With me, it's been having a full time job AND running my tack business so for the last 10+ years my horses have taken a back seat, as well as my house, any vacation I'd hope to have, etc.    So, decided to make some changes as my horses are not getting any younger (me either!) and I miss them!  Feel like I'm need  to start my 'Katie's Farewell Tour'

This sounds like me minus the blankets.  We're building a house and it's been all consuming!!  LOL  I have barely touched my horses since November.

My goal is, *if* I remember how to saddle a horse, to start riding in February.

Well I had already "quit" riding right at the end of November because I was pregnant.  I chose that as my stopping point because I was going to have to quit at some point anyways, so cold weather was as good as any.  Unfortunately the pregnancy didn't last and they haven't technically cleared me for riding (still having major health issues from the miscarraige) but I snuck a few rides in, just hate trying to deal with the cold on top of everything else.

I hope to start riding in the next week. The extreme cold and wind and snow has got me hibernating in the warm house. I cannot stand winter....
I have a couple horses that have started the "I'm bored so I'm going to start getting an attitude and see if I can boss you around" I love the first ride back that they get a reality check that I, in fact, am still the boss
