| Curious, as It seems I read here someone fed only beet pulp as a feed along with hay,,, I feed a 11% sweet feed currently, along with beet pulp, one of my horses is a hard keeper, while my other seemd to get fat on air, so was considering feeding him only beet pulp along with a good supplement and of course hay/grass since he doesn't seem to need the extra calories is there something special I need to add, something he would be lacking by only getting beet pulp for his "grain" ration |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | With my uclery mare I do beet pulp and alfalfa pellets soaked to MAKE her eat lol. She is sooo picky about hay that she would wither away to nothing if I didnt soak her a moosh.
If the horse is an easy keeper go ahead and do just a ration balancer? Surly dosnt hurt to add the beet pulp as well if you dont mind the whole soaking messy process.(but ive always thought of beet pulp as somthing to add calories to help gain weight. so If it were me just a ration balancer.)
I know a lady that just does alfalfa pellets with her super easy keepers so they think they get something while the others get there grain.

Location: Texas | Beet pulp is good for horses, esp horses with digestive issues or growing horses.
But I will say I believe in soaked beet pulp shreds. NOT pellets. I've seen multiple horses choke on the pellets.
Now my mare is a one in a million horse and she's allergic to beet pulp. I don't feel it anymore, I switched whole feeding program up and simplified.
But it is a good feed, and I always fed with another pelleted grain or oats. And then added supplements.
Now I feed alf, grass, f1, and a 12% high fat pellet. |

| Yep Shreds no pellets, I feel they get more fiber with the shreds
I also like to keep my feeds simple, I don't want to feed aots to my Appendix, would LOVE to find Barley, but the last feed store that carried it around here closed up about 5 years ago,, |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I'm pretty sure my horses are the only horses in the world that don't like beet pulp!!! Just to get rid of the bag I bought I've just been feeding it to my east keepers as a little extra!! Hahah. |

Location: Texas | Oh and forgot to add. Feed an appropriate amount and Make sure you soak it well!!!
If you don't soak it really well, fed a little to much and the horse drinks water after eating......it can swell up in their gut and explode their gut or colic.
Really not trying to scare anyone just know how much your feeding and soak it :) |
