Location: USA | What does it mean when your horse is bleeding through one nostril? It's cold here being 20 degrees or less and I was riding her. I walked, trotted and did a slow canter work and then she started bleeding a little through her nose! What does this mean? Please someone help!!!!! |

| Need to get her scoped and see if she is bleeding from her lungs which can be exercised induced. Do a search on here for bleeders, it can be managed and not impede on their racing career. |

| I had one bleed out one nostril after a nasty cold night rodeo and I think maybe the cold dry air gave her a nose bleed. Just worked her hard yesterday and got her scoped and nothing wrong. If you notice any coughing after a run, sneezing, or head dropping get the horse scoped for peace of mind. |

Location: Online | Probably just the cold. Might just have some shallow blood vessels in the nose that are weak. The dry air will cause it. I know when it's dry I get nose bleeds. I doubt it's a big deal, but probably wouldn't hurt to scope just to be sure. |

Location: Randolph, Utah | I know nothing about bleeders but I had a horse do what you are describing and it was a broke blood vessel, I've never had it happen again. It was in a really dry dusty place when it happened. |

To know for sure, the horse needs to be scoped by your vet. Guttural pouch mycosis can be life threatening, so I would suggest you have her checked out. |

Location: USA | I think it was just the cold. After I stopped riding her that day it quit within the next couple minutes or so and then the next day (A lot warmer) we did the same thing and she was fine. So thank you all for all your help. I was really worried at first but I do still plan on getting her checked. So, thank you :) |
