I'm interested in a broodie that is a daughter of Big Smash out of a daughter of Count Giacomo. I'm not real familiar with him. Anyone know much about him? Thanks.

I had one. Best horse I ever had. Kick myself in the @$$ every day for selling him. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I was looking. Almost bought one last year but he sold before I could get him.

Back in the late 70's I had a gelding by Count Giacomo
(CG was a TB
). My horse was a red dun with four stockings and blaze face-very gentle, quiet and big. I bought him to resell and did very well.

I've got a broodmare out of an AAA daughter of CG. Seems like he was used mostly in a QH breeding program and crossed on daughters of Kitaman quite often from what I have found. Haven't been able to find out much info on him, but he does appear to be a good broodmare sire.

Thanks. I remember seeing Count Giacomo on several pedigree's of some nice horses. I may give this mare a try.

Sorry I am usually a lurker on here!
I have a mare that is out of Special Show and a mare called Count Em that is out of Count Giacomo. Like you I always wonder about the bloodlines because I never can find much information on either Special Show or the Count Giacomo bred horses. I have talked to a couple of people that raise race horses and they get very excited about her bloodlines! lol So I guess that is a good thing. I really like this mare, she has given me two very nice babies so far. The first is out of an App stud and she is 4 this year she is a late bloomer so I do not have her very far along in her training but I am very happy with her for no more than I have done with her at this point, I had her broke last summer and she sat in my pasture because of other obligations until December and when I got back on her---no buck no issues. I also have a yearling filly out of Frenchmans Boogie that I am soooo excited about! This mare so far has been a great momma easy to foal, good milk, easy to breed.
I am trying to decide who to breed to this year.....hard dilema! lol I do not know about other horses bred along these lines but this mare is very fast has a good attitude, she can be worked up but for the most part she is laid back. She came to me with issues on the barrel pattern so we never competed much. After she about took her front foot off I decided she was meant to give me babies! lol Good luck with yours!

I have a mare that is a gr daughter of Ronas Ryan on top and a gr daughter of Count Giacomo on the bottom. She is prorodeo quality and my trainer wanted to rodeo on her but she got hurt. She is heck of a barrel horse.
