I have a friend looking for a saddle for a hard-to-fit horse. She is on a pretty tight budget but is having no luck with the used saddle's she's tried, so wondering about ordering a Triple Creek. With the crazy low cost I have to wonder what the quality is like? Do the saddles hold up pretty well? Are they pretty easy to deal with and order from? Is it possible to order one wider than average? I know nothing about ordering saddles online as we've always used a local saddle maker, but this seems like a good option for the lower budget... tell me your experiences, good or bad!

Never had a triple creek, but have sat in one, it made my hips hurt, I could only sit in it 15 seconds.
My suggestion is sit in one before you buy.

I had one and really liked it. It was a very nice saddle for the money.

I had one and loved it.  Had to sell it though because it did not fit my hard to fit gelding.  I would certainly order one again if I could get a tree to fit him.

Ty's ol lady

On Facebook

I seen on canadian barrel tack swap, and on barrel saddles in prairie provinces there is an 8 inch gullet triple creek by Calgary for sale, I believe this is in your neck of the woods, I suggest trying that one.

I LOVE my triple creek and wouldn't hesitate to buy one again, it fit my pushing 16 hand, 1200 lb mare and with a shim and the right pad not fits my 3 year old, still growing into himself gelding. I have bad hips (arthritic) and my saddle doesn't make me hurt in anyway. I like how free my legs are and how good the contact is with the horse.

I love my Triple Creek. If you're in the OKC area, I have one you can try... I'm also a rep for them, so please feel free to ask me questions.

I just tried one yesterday...did not fit my mare at all unfortunately but she is the more narrow type. Flashy nice and light and I think well made for the price. The gal who is selling it was great and let me take it to try it first - she is in Wainwright, not sure where you're at.

I just bought a used one a few weeks ago. I was very nervous because I've never seen one in person. I was going to order one, but found a used one that was almost exactly like what I would have ordered anyway so decided to go that route.

At first I was disappointed. It's all tooled and the leather was slippery. I brought it inside in front of the woodstove and deep conditioned it twice. After doing that the leather was so much nicer and had some grab to it so I didn't feel like I was going to slide right off.

It fits both my mares good - they are smaller, narrower types. I used it for a playday and it was comfortable and I liked that I didn't struggle to keep my stirrup like I did with my Cactus. I rode 4 hours at the beach and I wasn't sore.

I haven't used it to shoot off yet so am anxious to see how that goes.

My saddle right now is a TC and I love it!! my legs have never hurt in it and neither have my hips. I live out in the middle of no where so I couldn't have someone come and look at my horses back and suggest the perfect tree for my horse but I got a wide QH fit. It was a little big on him in the shoulders but I used some shims and it fits him perfect. I've actually seen a little difference in his back filling up a little too. I would definitely buy another if I couldn't buy a TF.

I love mine.
Granted, it's not a saddle I'd recommend if you want to feel like you're caged onto your horse, or want that "sitting on a couch" feel. I like it for the freedom of motion it gives me, and how well I can feel my horse's movement beneath me. Beautiful saddles, too, and the people are very easy to deal with. Mine was completely custom, and it was unbelievable how quick they were able to get it to me. I've only had it since Christmas, so I cannot speak for how well it holds up. I can say it's definitely a show-stopper saddle. I've gotten lots of jealous remarks!
