I am looking for suggestions for a DVD for someone in their 40's wanting to start YOGA for the first time.
Dr. recommended starting Yoga, but I would have to drive 45 miles to take classes.  Thought I would try it at home.  Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Happymom

If you have Dish, see if you have the Veria channel. They have several Yoga series that come on daily. I like it because it's not the same everyday like if you buy a video. My favorite is Yoga for Life. I can't remember the channel number, but I think it's in the 200's.....

If you have instagram, you should follow my SO's cousins' yoga page. She started last July and posts how-tos along with some awesome pictures for motivation. I can send you her name if you want to follow her. She's definitely motivated me!

awesome! i really like recording them so i have them to watch when i have time. They show you different variations of the poses depending on how advanced you want to be! he always tell you to hold a pose through the commercial break, but i usually skip most of that..... lol!

best thing is, it's free! well, kinda..... if you don't think about your Dish bill!

I love Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown.  Before I wasn't much of a fan, but these DVDs are really good...and work!

That's the one I was going to recommend. It has 2 workouts - level 1 and level 2 - and she shows you modified/beginner versions of each pose within each level.
I did level 1 Tuesday and level 2 yesterday and was feeling it a little today, but I haven't worked out in months and am trying to get back in the swing of things. Decided to start with a couple days of yoga because it's less intense than some of my other favorite Jillian workouts.

I subscribe to myyogaonline. $9.95/month, levels from beginner to advanced, plus Pilates, meal planning, etc.
I didn't know about the veria channel, thanks!
There's a lot of free workouts on YouTube and that's actually where I got started and later bought Jillians and bob harper's yoga workout cd's.
I've lost a lot of inches, some weight, changed my eating habits and feel 100% better since I've gotten moving. Have fun!
