Location: Displaced Iowegian | John Franklin Carrigan "Grandpa John"
- Funeral services for John "Grandpa John" Franklin Carrigan, 69, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl Provenza. Interment will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Church Cemetery in Stonewall. John was born on August 16, 1944 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on February 3, 2014 after a long hard fought battle with Leukemia.
He was a resident of Keithville, Louisiana and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was retired from Kroger where he worked as produce manager for many years. Everyone loved Grandpa John even those who were not related to him would call him "Grandpa John". John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. John had a true love of horses and of all animals. John would spend as much time as he could with his horses. He would always make everyone laugh and could say some of the silliest things. Even as John was going through his cancer treatments, he was still trying to make other patients going through the same treatments smile and laugh. John's little ways of brightening up everyone's day. John will be missed by all who knew him, but we know that John is happy to be with God and you can guarantee that he is always watching over those who loved him every day.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Cecelia Carrigan and his brother, Robert "Bob" Carrigan. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Cynthia H. Carrigan; son, Douglas Carrigan and wife, Nana; stepson, Cary Jeter; daughters, Sandi Lawton and husband, Scott, Wendy Benson and husband, Tim; stepdaughter, Angela Jeter; grandchildren, Michael Lawton, Rachel Lawton, Keely Carrigan, Devin Carrigan and wife, Kathleen, Kelly Carrigan, Reece Benson, Kayley Poston, and Jordan Tall; Great-grandchild, Jaden Carrigan and brother, William "Bill" Carrigan.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John's memory to Pony Express Charities, 12285 Rust Lane, Keithville, LA 71047 or the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, 1501 Kings Hwy. Shreveport, LA 71103 | |
