It has been a while since I talked about Monster, our blue roan stud colt.
He is now three! Still a stud, won't breed unless he can prove himself in the next three years.
Not really in a hurry to cut him, but will if that is what seems to be the best. As of now he is well behaved, so we figured it is not hurting anything at the moment.
He sticks at 14.3, hoping he grows to at least stick at 15hh.
Here are a few pictures:
I think his head looks big and ugly in these pictures, but don't feel that way when I look at him in real life!
Last time I think I posted about him...it was about 50/50 on what people thought as far as keeping him a stud.
My thoughts:
His pedigree is "okay" so he would need to really prove himself IMO to stand him as a stud. My hope would be to stand him with a $1,000.00 stud fee, BUT he would have to back that up performance wise-if he can't in my opinion he would not really be worth standing, who knows if we can get that accomplished in three years, lol.
In the meantime it is fun to take him to shows, because at just about every show someone wants to buy him, of course they are all low ball offers.
Feel free to share what you think. It is always good to know what people think, and always good to know the weaknesses of your horse that others notice. I have been snowed in for three days and not gone anywhere, so this will give me something to do.
So far he has been easy to break, and is a natural! Really wants to work off his butt, and picks up very easily.
