Any one else have a C section?

I just had a c section 11 days ago and was wondering how long I will need to wait to ride? I am not feeling up to it yet but I am anxious to be able to again! They said I can't lift more than 10 lbs for six weeks so I am assuming I need to wait at least that long? I had a horrible labor and delivery so I was not at all thinking to ask while I was at the hospital!

I was in labor for a day and a half before my first C and was riding and roping at a branding 5 1/2 weeks after my first one with no problem an only minor soreness afterward. My second was much easier and I would have been riding at 4 weeks but my husband locked the tack room. Congrats on your new addition to your family.

Thanks guys! I was really disappointed I had to have the c Section but nothing went according to plan! They induced me early to high blood pressure on Sunday night and I started having contractions almost right away my BP remained high so they started me on a drug that shuts down your central nervous system so you can't have a seizure or stroke but it makes you feel like death. Nothing was progressing much so they broke my water on Monday night I pushed for about 6 hours and he wasn't even close they tried to give me an hour to rest and then try again but with the contractions I couldn't rest and I was so exhausted there is no way I could push anymore and the doctor thought the baby may be too big. So we decided c section was best at that point and he was born at 12:18 PM on Tuesday. He turned out to only be 7.1 and a half! It was so awful and they kept me in the horrible drug for 12 hours after he was born. I was so happy to get to go home on Friday afternoon!

If I remember right I was about 6 weeks when I started feeling well enough to ride. My son was born C section the beginning of November so by the time I felt well enough we had lots of snow and cold. You'll have ants in your pants to get out and do something but give your body a chance to heal. I wasn't supposed to lift over 10 pounds either but my son weighed 11 pounds 3 ounces when he was born so that didn't work very well.

I had one Jan 20 my Dr told me to wait until my 6 week check up, and she is an equestrian so I am following her advice..... Besides the weather here is icy and cold so it is easy to stay inside now.

I had a emergency one first time and scheduled 2nd one. I didnt allow my incesion time to heal before doing what i wasnt alllowed and it ripped back open.. also.. you dont want adhesions forming anymore then normal so least 6 -8 weeks.. adhesions and scar tissue will be worse if you do to much to soon.and wait longer if your body isnt ready.. you just carried a baby inside you and then cut open.. allow your body to heal.be kind to it
