VENT...........   Hubby and I are SO frustrated with DISH network. We've only been with them since December (and locked in a 2 year contract) and so many things haven't worked. I had to set up the internet myself because our service tech didn't do it right (after he was there for 7 hours to install things), we've already replaced our box once, and I've spent countless hours on the phone, troubleshooting things that don't work.

The one issue that continues to NOT be resolved is the On Demand feature.

DISH keeps telling us that our internet connection is too slow and that's why it sometimes doesn't work. I honestly think that's a bunch of baloney because we get the internet from them!!! Plus, my little brother just moved in with us temporarily and he is a tech geek. That's his job. He's told me we have GOOD internet and it is actually faster than my parents fiber optic cable internet.

I'm just so frustrated with our service but they refuse to give us a discount on our bill to make up for the fact that the On Demand feature doesn't work 90% of the time. We are locked in the contract with huge penalty fees if we'd drop our service, and our only other option in our neck of the woods would be DirectTV.

Just curious if anyone else has the same problem with DISH?

We've been with DISH for I imagine around 15 or 20 years.  We've never had an issue but I don't have internet through them either.

Do a speed test on your internet from your computer. So you can give them numbers to work off of. Always ask for a supervisor in the USA. Then ask them their name, and where they are working out of and how to contact them direct about this problem in the future. See if your speed is considered fast enough for your on demand then it is a problem with the connections or your box. If it isn't fast enough then ask them how to make if fast enough. IF they can't help you with this then I would tell them that you contacting the consumer protection agency with her direct contact info. I just went thru this with our internet carrier. Took seven people to finally get it right. Good Luck I have always gotten a month or months free when I called in . We have had Direct TV for 2 yrs and I've only paid for Movie channels 1 month. Squeeky wheel get the grease. Good Luck

I have already been through all the steps I highlighted.

They basically have told me "Too bad, your internet isn't fast enough, and that's just the way it is."

I will certainly try your suggestion. I feel like we are getting scr@wed by them since we are locked in a contract and their internet service isn't good enough for the TV. I have no complaints about the internet itself. It's a little slower to load pages than the cable internet we used to be on, but I don't mind. It's decent. So that's why I don't understand why I can access the internet on my computer and tablet just fine, and watch YouTube or a movie on my computer just fine, but somehow it's not fast enough for On Demand.

I've only been with dish for 6 months, but would STRONGLY suggest against directv. I signed up and was told my bill would be $82 a month. First bill was 232. Never had one under $130, and didn't have a lot of the channels I wanted to watch.

I have been with Dish for over 20 years.  When I moved in January I went with Dish again.  The young man that did my install was super helpful and knowledgeable.  I talked to them about internet service but the man I talked to talked me out of it because he wasn't sure I was in a good area.  So I have an AT&T air card.  I am sorry you are having this trouble.

To those of you who use this AT&T Air Card, can you tell me more? We do have AT&T for our cell phones.

Can you connect multiple devices to it? And it works good with your DISH TV?

Do you have any lawyer friends? I would say since they aren't upholding their part of the contract that it voids your part. I was having problems with DirecTV years ago. We were constanly losing service. They couldn't figure out the problem so I called them and told them they had one more chance to fix the problem and if they couldn't fix it I was going with Dish and they could sue me as they weren't holding up their end of the contract to give me service. They couldn't fix it...I cancelled and went with Dish and heard back from them a few years later trying to get us to come back.
