| I have a 2 coming 3 this month that despises bits. I can and have put an o-ring on him and just let him carry it around and hes fine at a walk but as soon as he's trotting or loping at the bit moves at all no matter if a human is involved or not he immediately gets very uncomfortable. He rides fantastic in a halter. Teeth are good. He is short, 13.3-14hh as wide as he is tall, big boned, bald faced. idk if any of that has to do with it. Anywho what kind of hack would you try? I want basic basic. short short shank. He is very sensitive on his mouth/ face so I use verbal/ body language/ leg to ride him.

Location: Oklahoma | I start anything I own (or even restart others that have problems) in my Weaver Fast Stop. I love it. They ride very relaxed and you can get them very soft in it. Here is a video of a 3 yr old (who I've only worked with 3 days) riding in it. You have to have soft hands, but my horses usually love it. This horse had only been trail ridden, and had no idea how to pick up his right lead 2 days before this video was made, and as far as I know had never seen a barrel before I got him. I got him on Wednesday (didn't ride him that day) and this video was made on Saturday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFXUzd5kB80 |

| I'm just a little concerned the quick stops will be a tad much for him. He gets "closterphobic" sometimes I think. He rides in a soft rope halter lol |

Location: Stephenville, TX | I ride the carls hack on a lot of horses. Currently roping and working barrels on a 4 yo in it and he loves it. I run my good horse in it. It has a lot of lift for a hack. I have the nose wrapped with vet wrap. There are 2 or 3 different shank lengths. I have the short but would like to get the medium just to have. http://lwbits.com/Hackamores.html |

Location: Canada | The beetle hack more with its noseband wrapped in vet wrap, and its a really nice hack for young horses. I also use it on my finished barrel horses for trails, cattle sorting and other activities. |

I second the beetle hack. Its one of my favorties for sensitive horses because it is so mild. Just make sure the horse has a good foundation before throwing a hackamore on them. The beetle doesnt offer much lift so the horse needs to be able to move off legs and understand other cues to stay responsive and obedient. But Im a hack girl all the way! |

| I looked at the 5" beetle hack by l&w. He is very broke in terms of control of each part of him but he is still a baby in the terms of he still needs many miles before barrels. |
