Mouhahaha Posts: 1786 Location: British Columbia	When you get married, do you have to send in all your registration certificates to AQHA to update each horse's ownership with your married name? Or does it matter?

They told me I had to and buy a new membership too. I just waited until it expired to update my name and transfer any new horses. Still have a couple registered under my maiden name.

The only reason I can think that you would need to send the pepers in is if you run AQHA and are an Amateur (so they match) or for futurities since they often write checks to the name on the papers. I have a gelding with an old set of blue papers that I won't send because I don't want to get the new yellow one back on him. For my other 2, they are already on the new certificate so I will send theirs in. They said it cost around $15 to change the name on the papers.

They'll change it in their system - you dont have to update paperes ... we just kept ours how they are ...
