NJJ - 2014-03-03 9:00 PM I wondered that myself. I haven't seen any numbers. Tickets ranged from $20 (nosebleed section) to $150. I did hear them announce that Jerry Jones bought 10,000 tickets for the military to attend but that they were not allowed to come (by their Commander) because of the weather.
I thought I had heard one of the announcers say that 2,000 couldn't come because of the reason stated. I might be mistaken on that though. I did see quite a few empty seats and I assumed those were meant for the military. That was a very cool gesture.
That could be because, at first, it was hard to hear Justin McKee and his helpers when it started. The stadium holds 75,000 doesn't it? I thought it looked like a pretty good crowd for a "first time" event!

It was 2,000.  And don't blame the Commander.  He has to do what the army mandates.  I am sure he wasn't any happier then the soldiers because having to make any decision like that makes him the bad guy, even when it's out of his hands.

They put over 100,000 people in there for the NBA All Star game a couple of years ago. The final four is there this year. I don't know how many they are planning to seat for that. If it's 80,000 it will be sold out.

I thought I heard 10,000 but that did seem a little high. I, personally, wasn't blaming the Commander at all....just stating what Justin McKee said that he wouldn't allow them to come because of the chance that they couldn't make it back.....I was giving kudos to Jerry Jones for trying to support the military.

Boy, I had a heck of a time hearing Justin and his commentators over the announcer at the rodeo.  They needed to do some adjustments or else I'm getting really old and deaf.

CrossDRanch - 2014-03-04 5:53 PM I do not know what the stadium holds, but it was not half full
I looked it up.......capacity is 80,000 so that would be approx. 40,000.....

I would say that was an excellent turn-out for a first time event and more than two times the spectators at the NFR........PLUS the thousands that didn't get there because of the weather.

What does the T & M hold during the NFR?  20 some thousand?

loveyatx - 2014-03-04 9:59 AM We had tickets on the corner on the end the barrel racing was run on. They were $37 bought 2 weeks before. I saw a few still left on the first and second barrel for $400 or $450. The very top sections had black curtains over them and tickets were only available for the lower sections. I was thrilled though by the number that turned out and hope it was in successful numbers they continue it each year. So exciting.

I'm thinking it will probably happen next year! I got a call today from a representive wanting my brother's number and then he asked me if I thought he would be interested in being the team roping exemption for next year!! LOL I don't think he will do it, though we are going to push for him to.. He needs rotator cuff surgery and doesn't even own a horse any more and only ropes when doctoring cows in the pasture.. LOL He is a two time world champion and IS in the Pro Rodeo Hall Of Fame though so, he is worthy.. I wish he would do it.. He can still rope really good but, he just hasn't roped at that level since he retired in 2003.. All his kids have finally gotten old enough to want to see him rope! We're gonna keep trying.. LOL

IMO, I don't see this concept going away anytime soon. With all of the big name "pros" getting behind it, I think it will just get bigger (more $$$) and better.

SO for those of you that were physically there, how was the arena split?  was there an arena for the rough stock, and one for the timed event?

Holy catfish! I would think they'd want the NFR in a bigger place.  I won't open up that can of worms though.
