Not to be digging up old bones .... APHA
APHA has so many magazines now they should turn into a publisher and clothing/jewelry store and let someone else run the APHA REGISTRY and change the rules for the benefit of paint horse owners rather than complicate them on color or solid issues they know nothing about.
APHA refuses to take the simple way and boot any horse that is a crop out qh out of APHA and they even registered these cropouts as regular registry paints with a 2 inch spot somewhere on their body!!
APHA then come back to breeders demanding they produce color and ban the solid colored foals from participating in major APHA events with the colored foals. APHA create step child classes for the solid bred foals or refuse to let them enter in the higher dollar events. Even if you have all color in a paint pedigree ... APHA records show you will get a solid foal 37% of the time.
Would some of you gungho APHA supporters ask them to run a quick computer check on how many crop out and double registered horses are registered as regular registry paints???
.... Follow up QUESTIONS:
Why doesn't APHA withdraw/delete them from the paint registry and send them back to AQHA??? .......... Since APHA admits these cropouts are a major problem producing solid babies.
Ask APHA to stop the discrimination on paints with a legitimate registered colored or solid paint in their first generation and open up all their events so colored and solids can compete together as paints for the same monies or prizes ... period!!
***************************************************************
Keep the above in mind as you go to page 32 in one of their newest magazines FLASH and read LICENSE TO EARN. See if their explanation on wanting colored foals reminds you of rules for Obamacare ....
At the bottom of the webpage you can click on various pages to move quickly to page 32 .. but the zoom and roll up and down will drive you nuts ... lol

APHA has more problems than solid vs. regular registry. Their organizational skills are terrible. My horse was Res World Champion in Poles and when they put the results up on the internet, he was not even listed in the class at all. Another horse was shown as being Res Champion. What the heck???? Then I had to call them and tell them that the horse had earned his ROM so they could put it on his performance record. I guess you are required to do your own bookkeeping.
The barrel sweepstakes was supposed to be a 4D and advertised $9500 added money. The sweepstakes was split into two divisions--solid and regular registry. This was the breakdown of the $9500.
$5000 actual added money split between the two divisions.
(2500 to each division
)
$3000 to the fastest time---you can be sure that was NOT going to a solid color paint.
$1500 to the ten fastest times. This actually did go to a few solid horses.
If you placed in the 4D in the solid paint division you came home with an empty pocket.
This needs to be a true 4D with money split between the 4D's either with NBHA splits or equal splits.
This is also a comforting thought---I was sitting right by the judges when they sat down for poles and one of the women judges said "now what are we looking for here" Obviously never judged timed events before!!! Bet the roping was interesting.
