Do you guys ever get that feeling you need to check on the horses? I get it all the time!! It has gotten worse lately. I randomly get that feeling. I've even woken up in the middle of the night and have to go out and check on them. Nothing has happened to make me worried. I'm naturally a nervous/worry wort type of person but it's way worse than it used to be. Lol my random babbling for the day...

I do that a lot too.

A couple of years ago, I woke up to this strange nickering noise.  Sounded like a horse in distress.  I went out side - didn't hear anthing.  Back in bed I heard it again.  Went all the way to the barn - everyone was content and quiet. Back to bed.... Finally figured out it was my SO snoring funny....

I also like to check the main gate and feedroom door constantly.

Hahah! That's funny!

I always have to check everything several times! Especially my trailer before we pull out. The other night about 3 I felt like I needed to check on them....I went out and everyone was down and quiet. I went and made everyone get up lol and check them all out! I feel crazy but I never ignore that feeling.

I've never felt the need to go check on them... but I have gotten out of bed and drove to where I was keeping them to make sure I closed the gate. I have this hang up about gates. If I don't close them, or stand there and watch someone close them I worry myself sick wondering if they were closed at all until I actually go check.

Now my mom gets those feelings and it really put a damper on my social life as a teenager lol. One night my friend and I wanted to go hang out. She said no because she had a bad feeling and I couldn't for the life of me talk her into letting me go. So she sends us to the store to get chicken. On the way back someone ran a red light and thanks to my friend's driving we barely missed being t-boned. Went back home and told my mom what happened and said "So now that the bad thing happened... can we go out?" lol. It didn't work.

I board and I get that feeling all the time!!!!! I hate it. I am kinda a hypochondriac and I hate that I rely on someone else to feed, water, check them over, etc. I am very detail oriented and notice things which when they just throw feed in, they dont see. So yes, and I have driven out there in the middle of the night to check.

One night, I got home at 4am from a race and stayed at a friends barn. Slept in my truck and had a nightmare the barn was on fire. Never bailed out of a vehicle so fast in my life, only to realize I was dreaming...

ALL.THE.TIME. - I go out to the barn in the middle of the night sometimes too - and usually the horses aren't very happy to have me shine a flashlight in their eyes when they WERE asleep!

I do it quite often.  Then recently when Bebo's barn burned and they lost all those nice horses I find myself being almost psycho about it.

I can see my barn from my bedroom window so most of the time I just look out in the middle of the night. I'm scared of the dark so I really don't want to go outside if I don't have to. I did though wake up to the sound of a door hitting the tin on my barn and looked out and saw my barn door open, I was up and out the door with my gun. I hadn't thought about what I was going to do when I got out there but all I knew is I needed to get there. Turns out the latch just wasn't shut all the way and everything was good.

So happy I am not the only one. I have an oldie that I feed 4 times day so his last feeding is at 10 so I give everyone a check. Sometimes I go out again if I think someone looked like they might think about not feeling ok. I drive everyone crazy with gates I have to check and recheck sometimes.

Nothing wrong with checking your trailer. Not enough people do that. I've seen a couple come loose and it ain't nothing nice!

I check gates and doors. I will check my horses sometimes, but usually only if I hear something or the dog is barking.

I've driven my boyfriend crazy when he hooks up the trailer for me... i ask 10 times, he promises everything okay...and i still make him pull over so i can check for myself.

When I get that feeling I move like lightning. I can feel a accident waiting to happen. Unfortunately I'm usually right. I don't feed and run I stay and watch to make sure everyone is eating normal and traveling right. I check all gates, If I go in it I come out the same way. If I feel it I answer the call. Not always during my sleep it can be any time.

After reading this thread I feel the need to go check on my horse! We had a pack of coyotes get into his pen the other day and terrified him half to death he went through a section of fence and it took about 4 hours to catch him because he was so panicked so it's doubled my normal paranoia lol
