The Resident Destroyer of Liberal Logic
Location: PNW | I shipped off a saddle this afternoon - from Oregon to Georgia - via UPS....... AND IT WAS $92.83!!!!! I packed it and boxed it myself - all they had to do was put a label on it and toss it onto the truck.
I just shipped a saddle a few months ago via UPS and it was like $50.
Whuck happened?? |

Location: PNW | Nope. Same EXACT box - extra large Uhaul box. Pretty close to the same weight too - maybe ONE pound difference.

Location: Midwest | You maybe were just over the lb cutoff for oversize? Did you ship priority, or insure it for more? Hmm. very odd. |

| I know on some boxes the side you put lable on makes a difference, the top or side. Wierd, last time i sent a saddle i got a post office quote, the i sent it cant remember those people with yellow van. You could pack some books around saddle and call tell people its books and they are real, cheap to,send.

| Does the price reflect the distance the shipment would go? Just thinking maybe you last saddle shipment didn't have to travel as far.

| Shipping prices went up. I routinely have shipped saddles for $40-50 with insurance in the past. Just shipped one with $2000 insurance and it was almost $80 via either USPS or UPS. |

Location: North Dakota | they could have measured the box wrong. I tried shipping a saddle pad once USPS and they were trying to tell me it would cost $50, I said no thanks and didn't ship it that day (they had to measure the package). Went in Monday to a different person and it was $15 like it should have been. I shipped enough to know he measured it wrong and wouldn't listen to me. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Different region......post office is usually cheaper. And I probably would have asked them to measure it a second time and punch it in again because that does seem awful high :( I'm in MO, person from PA/NY area just bought a saddle and I think UPS quoted her $35 for shipping (she has a business though and has already paid the shipping and they are picking it up here) |

The persons address has a lot to do with it. rural routes cost lots more |

I used to think so, but last time they were more money.
And the very last time, USPS would not even ship my box. They said it was too big! I think UPS shipped it for 80-something including insurance.
I was so mad when the post office said it was too big... I had to carry that dang thing back to my car, then lug it into UPS! lol |

Location: North Dakota | I shipped two saddles this spring; 1 to Oregon and 1 to Oklahoma. Both cost me about $90 to ship with UPS. I incorporate it into the price of the saddle or buyer pays shipping. |
