Location: Montana | 7.3 is the better Powerstroke engine...heard WAY too many bad things about 6.0. I'm anxious to see how the new 6.7 does. I think to get a 7.3 you have to be 2003 or older. |

Location: North Central Iowa Land of white frozen grass | The 7.3 was last put in till the mid year of 2003. I have both a 7.3 and a 6.0 in F-350. I have not had a bit of trouble with either one of them. But I think the 7.3 is a more reliable motor. |

| 7.3L is definitely the better engine. More reliable, a lot less issues than the 6.0L, especially if you are planning on hauling with it. I know some people with 6.0Ls and only one person, out of the several I know, has not had a boat load of problems with their truck. They can be great trucks to build up and use for other purposes, but I would never choose one over a 7.3L. 7.3Ls are from sometime in the mid-90s to about halfway through 2003. |

Location: NC | Early 2003 until 1995 (I think) have the turbo diesel 7.3. I have an early 2003 model, one of the last 7.3 ever made. Love love love her. Best truck ever. She can haul anything you can hitch up. And does it well. I believe she has a chip in her, that makes her extra zippy with & without the trailer. And I haul a 20 foot steel trailer with 4 horses.
They last a long time. And are a workhorse. Nothing foo foo about them. All business. |

| 6.7 is gonna get you the best mileage (Newest)
6.4 is gonna get you the most power (2008+)
6.0 sucks(2003-2007)
7.3 is a guzzler but powerful. You can roll lots of coal with this. (2003-)
I personally like my 6.4 F250 with H&S Black Maxx tuner (it's outlawed now but the Mini Maxx is good too) Makes close to 700hp and can pull a 40 foot gooseneck with no problem (and the tow haul mode doesn't even work)
Personally my favorite combo of engine/interior design.
I'd take the 6.7 next, then the 7.3. Then any dodge, then toyota, then nissan, then the 6.0, then any chevy. Lol |

That's a good truck.
We have the 7.3 and the 6.0. I like both pretty equally. It's been harder to get horsepower out of the 7.3 though, but it does it's job well. |

Sounds like a good deal, especially if the truck is in good shape! The 7.3s don't make the most power, but they get the job done with next to no issues from my experiences and they are just plain workhorses. As my boyfriend says "It won't get you there fast, but you can count on it to get you there"! I think you'd be very happy with your choice...I just went through the truck search over summer and am so happy I settled for my 2003 7.3! |
