Location: Rc | I've been feeding my mare Tequila 2oz of Triple Crown Omega Essentials (liquid supplement) since November of last year (I've been pairing it up with 2lbs of Ultium Competition). These past days I've noticed that she has not been eating her grain. I took off the Omega Essentials yesterday and she ate her grain just fine. She is not a picky eater, and I've never had an issue with horses not wanting to eat liquid supplements. Should I stop using the Omega Essentials and switch to something else? I have no idea what to do.

| Funny you mention this...... My mare has been on Finish Line U7 for months as well. SHe up and stopped eating it yesterday to! Who knows. To answer your question, I trust my horses. If they refuse something I stop feeding it immediatly.

I have also stopped feeding it for now. It doesn't smell bad nor is it moldy so I don't know why she is refusing to touch it. Maybe the texture is weird? I am looking at alternatives, I am just hoping that her performance or condition doesn't decline if I switch |

| What were you using it for? Just extra omegas? If so there are several of those oils on the market. Maybe the horse just lost interest in it? Or maybe it's rancid? It may not smell like it to you, but if she's refusing to eat it, something is definitely not right with it. Edited to add.. I've been using CEP products for a few months now and really like them, what I've used anyway... they have a product called Vitality and vitality plus ... its flaxseed oil plus vitamin E I've not tried it on my horse because he doesn't need the extra calories from it but I've heard really good things about it.

Have you tasted the supplement to see if maybe its gone bad? Do you feed it all at one feeding or do you split up the 2 oz and feed one oz in the morning and one in evening? |

I tried it this morning, and no it does not taste like it is going bad. I was splitting up the 2oz, but I've been very busy so I only have time to grain her once a day (I give her the 2oz all in one). |

I am not sure how I missed this post ^^ I have been using it for extra omegas and to improve her body condition in overall. I'll definitely check out the Vitality Plus! Thanks |

Since you are feeding once a day, I would do away with the Liquid supplement and try something like the Omega Horseshine, my horses seem to really like it.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I've heard of Omega Horseshine, but have never tried it. I've heard amazing things about it though. I also decided to take a look into DAC Bloom (it seems similar to the Horseshine, only it has more fat & amino acids). Out of the 2, which would be a better choice? At TCS, Omega Essentials cost $29.99 for a 64 day supply, the Omega Horseshine costs $49.99 for a 40 day supply , and the DAC bloom costs $37.99 for a 40 day supply. |

I never have used Dac Bloom so I'm no help to say what would be the best choice. I like the Horseshine since its a curmble and the horses seem to really like it. Goodluck on what ever you choose.. This is what I like about this forum theres so many things to try out that others have already used, and lots of suggestions |
