| I just recently became aware of these (Where have I been?!) There seem to be many pros to this type of arena. From what I read the price is much less than a metal arena ( I read somewhere a roping arena package was around $35,000. I assume that does not cover the labor to have it put up. Anyone have experience with these or know an accurate cost for the finished product?

| I actually talked to them a couple weeks ago. I think the purchase price includes material, delivery and construction. The price was $7-9 per square foot. I thing the end inserts would be extra on top of that. Very nice people and very helpful over the phone. I also think they come with a 20 year warranty on the cover and 50 year warranty on the frame. |

Location: Roping pen | We looked into several years ago so things have changed I am sure. Our quote did not include any cement and that is dependant on width nor any doors, electrical, site prep, etc. 40' or narrower, you could go with the big cement blocks (approx. 4'x6'). Any wider, you had to do a cement foundation. We priced a 110'x220' and is ended up over $100k for cement and shed.
But the bigger issue is the insurance (can't get with existing but they will insure them but very expensive) and the financing (again same as insurance).
Decided a 80' pole barn would be a lot cheaper in the long term.
IF you have a fairly protected place (to shield wind), they do seem to work fine. I have several neighbors that have 40' wides or so. They all said about a 10 year life on the canvas.

| We have one here at our county arena. I think they paid $400,000-$450,000 by the time it was completely constructed. Its nice to have to ride in and we use it on a regular basis. The bad thing about these type of arenas is that they aren't constructed as well as other coverings. Ours was damaged in a wind storm so now no one is allowed to ride in it if there is wind in excess of 35 mph. I guess that's not all the time but it seems like they close it as a precaution quite often and usually when the weather is bad and you want to ride inside.

OMG - you could NEVER, EVER ride in it in Kansas then - we have maybe FIVE days a year without wind! |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | From what I've seen and heard I wouldn't buy one. One person around here bought one a few years ago and they've been patching it up ever since....each time another nightmare. In addition, my farrier back about 8 years ago had a large one put up at his place. I went there and rode in it shortly after it was constructed. I loved how well it was lit up inside and it seemed pretty nice. A couple weeks later I was out to his place and saw his arena was a pile of twisted steel and rubble after a wind storm. As far as I know he never did get it put up again. I guess you get what you pay for. If you live in an area where you don't have winds, then I bet they aren't bad
