Sir Charly wondering if anyone know this horse

A friend of mine pulled this 8yr old gelding out of the kill pen in Missoula, MT yesterday. He was bred by Jim Copper in Monument, NM and raced in NM. It look like he went to GA but at the sale they said he came out of TX. She found an old ad for him from last April it said he was well broke and running barrels. When he raced he race futurity trials at Sunland in March so I assume the West Texas maybe and then he was in Ruidoso for trials in June and July. We are just curious as to how and why he ended up in a kill pen in MT. He is terribly thin and lame on a hind leg but headed to the vet this morning to see if she can save him and get him sound. His sire is Corona Charley. I though maybe by chance someone might know the horse he is a big guy too about 16.3. Thanks
