My husband and I separated but remained friendly for our kids sake. My daughter was riding her step-dads horse and keeping all her tack there so as to not have to haul it back and forth every time she rode. When her saddle broke I loaned her my saddle and tack. Shortly there after she had a falling out with step-dad and is no longer riding his horse or allowed at his place per him. Now he refuses to give me back our saddles and tack. Is there anything I can do to get them back? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I agree. Call the sheriff and have them meet you there. When I left my wife, I loaded up everything in my truck and loaded the horses and left. I was very civil about it, and thought she was too...but I had to come back to get my motorcycle out of the garage, and she decided she didn't want to let me have it because she was mad. I called the sheriff and had them meet me at the end of the driveway with all my paperwork showing the bike was my property, and they made her give it to me.
If you have any pictures of the saddle on your horses, with you, ect, you might want to take them, just to help prove your point. But chances are that once you show up with the law, he'll probably hand it over.

I'm confused... Ok there's your exhusband who I'm assuming is your daughter's father, and then there's the stepdad... so the stepdad isn't your new husband?

Here in TN it doesn't matter if you have paperwork stating that you own the property. You have to file a "Writ of Possession" and take it before a judge. The judge will then determine if you are allowed to get your stuff. Check with your sheriff's office first.

The ex-husband is the step dad. I have tried to go get and pick it up and so has my daughter but both he and his sister (who lives with him) refuse to allow us on the property. Since the saddles and tack were given as gifts to us from my family we don't have any written proof and the only pics we have are from when my daughter was riding his horses. I honestly never thought he would never do this to my daughter as he has tried even since our separation to try to adopt her. Going to try the law and pray. Thanks for all the advice. Have a blessed day.

Tell him for me that he's being a jerk and just give the saddle back.
