As some know my boyfriend is getting pretty serious about looking at a Living Quarters trailer. Well as we have been looking at these I keep thinking that I wouldn't want to put all of my horse stuff in the living quarters. My BF would be spending much more time in there and keeping horse stuff in there would drive his allergies just nuts and that isn't fair and I wouldn't want all the horse crap in their anyway. So assuming we would buy one with a rear tack (because I really want one) can you get a 4 horse with a stud wall and use that as a "mid tack?" just for things like hay and stuff that isn't going to fly all over while driving? I only have two "forever horses" and am only considering getting one more a little down the road. Is this doable? or a bad idea? have others done it?

Also while on the subject.. How big of a truck would you use to haul it? looking at upgrading soon and would like to get something I would be able to haul a big rig with.

Hauling for HS rodeo we used the front slot for hay, grill, etc and had no problems. Since it has the stud wall it kept everything from falling. Worked perfect for us!

I custom ordered mine so it had a mid tack and a back tack. The back tack I removed the saddle racks and I put my hay there, I can fit 6 square bales buckets, plus pelleted feed.

i use the front 2 stalls in my trailer for storage........and depending on the size of your lq...you could get away with a 3/4 ton with a smaller front end.........

In the front slant/stall I use it also for hay/tack and I even bought a portable 3 teir saddle rack and put in there so I could have more space in my sleeping area, cause its a really small area. My trailer only had a front tack and I fixed up that area so I could stay in it when I went for the weekend races. I have a 4 horse slant load Feather lite, and would only haul no more then 2 horses for over night races and this works out really well.

I have a mid tack.  In it I put anything that will move outside once I get parked.  Chairs, charcoal grill, dog crate.  Aso extra boots, rain gear, dirty clothes hamper, dog food , dog bed  etc.  That room also serves as the doggy bedroom.   I have a stud wall on the first stall, feed, buckets, manure bucket goes there.

A stud divider and an extra trailer stall come in handy!

If we were hauling three horses we would keep grain, buckets, chairs, etc. in the stud divider.  Ours didn't originally come as a stud wall, my dad just screwed in some thicker plywood and left about 6-8" of space from the floor.   So don't worry about finding one with a stud door, it can be converted.
