Location: 31 lengths farms | My mom has dementia, and is suddenly not sleeping at night. Melatonin used to work well for her but as the desease has progressed so has her sleep issues. Her doctor is out of town all this week, office closed. Tylonol PM isn't helping, I was up with her for the last 2 nights from about 1:30 am until about 5:30, I have to be at work at 7:30 and I'm dying here. Any other OTC sleep aides. |

Location: Idahome | I take a product that I get from my chiro. It is basically to help relax my muscles ( I carry a lot of tension in my back), but I sleep so good at night when I take it. I don't use it a lot, only when I have rode hard or done lots of yard work. It is an all natural, so not a narcotic. It is called Muscle Ezze PM. http://store.yourchiropractorsblend.com/muscle-ezze-pm-ex2.html |

| Valerian tea might help, or Chamomile. |

Location: Small Town Iowa | Try Z quill or good ol Benedryl. I do sleep studies and I have patients that use these meds and say that's usually all they need. |

Location: Blissfully happy Giants fan!!! | Melatonin didn't work for Dave but Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time seems to be. Also, when I get restless and can't sleep, I take Aleve that has naproxen in it. I sleep soundly with that.
I hope she starts sleeping good again Nan!!! |

Location: Gainesville, TX | Try Alteril. It has melatonin, tryptophan, and valerian & chamomile. Its a great all natural sleep aide. That being said. Check what other medications she is taking. Alteril (or tryptophan in general) can cause strong reactions if combined with an SSRI medication (usually antidepressants like Abilify and Cymbalta--there's a long list on WebMD). |

This is what I had to use some when I was on the chemo. Obviously I had sleep pills but would use the Benadryl when I would run out. The only thing I would be careful about with the Benadryl is it will dry you out so you need to make sure she drinks some water, if that is possible. |

Location: Oklahoma | One benadryl will get me down for the night and still let's me wake up like normal the next morning! I don't believe I have ever taken for it's actual purpose!I went on a cruise years ago and got a bad case of motion sickness. I took meds for it (around 2pm) and I was out until the next morning! Not sure if that's normal, but it would probably get the job done. |

| Elderly have to many aging issues to use Benadryl in my opinion. Nite Bliss from Saba helps lots of people. I have never had a sleeping issue but as an experienced nurse I can tell you SLEEP is very much needed or many issues arise. Let me know if I can help you try that product. It's cheap and all natural. |

| Do you have an urgent care in your area? Might be able to just go in and get prescription for Ambien or Ambien CR. Both work awesome. |
