Location: USA | I got my first OTT QH about 2 months ago and when I got her we had to go all the way from NC to TX to pick her up. She has AMAZING racing bloodlines and I couldn't say enough good things about her. Well, about 3 weeks ago I decided to ride her around the barrels to see how she'd do. I had been doing drills, pasture work, desensitizing, getting her to move off my legs etc; Well I walked the barrels once and set her up for her pockets and she bent so perfectly around ALL 3 barrels and going to the next by herself like she knew them already! She was just doing SO well and a very fast learner. Well, 10 days ago I turned her out and she's usually hyper in the mornings when I turn her out well she went barreling down to the other fence and slid to a stop well through some fines on the fence post was a nail head and her chest landed right on it! She ripped the skin on her chest and cut her front right pastern a little. We had to have the vet come out later that day to stitch her up and I about passed out because of all the blood squirting out. Well, we just took out her stitches today and the vet said that I could start back riding her tomorrow! I'm SO excited to start riding her again although I won't bring her back into full swing just yet I'm just happy I'll get to ride her! |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | How is she bred? They are usually exposed to quite a bit and come around really fast. I hate to hear that race bred horses are hot. I think they are as trainable as any other. OTT depends on how they were started and handled. Great to hear that you are loving yours |

Location: Over by those oil wells, TX | That story just made me smile!! I'm glad he's better and you can start him going again. I agree with Wyoming...some of them have a great work ethic and are just looking for a job they can focus on again! Herbie has one doing awesome and my daughter has a cute Panther Mountain that is so nice and calm loping a set after 6 days. Love these stories about people who love their OTTs! Hope you keep posting. :-) |

Location: Royal J Performance Horses, AZ | The 3 that i have are all fantastic, they load no problem, they tie no problem, they are easy to be around, handle, anything you want. Granted these mares are only broodmare sound, but they have all been pretty easy! and they are all bred differently.
If I was looking for one to be a prospect I would definitely go back to the track and find a sound one to start. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | They are everywhere. You can claim one off the track, buy through a sale like the Heritage. It is really buyer beware though. Many of these horses can have injuries. Some are major some are minor. I would do a really thorough vet check if buying a riding prospect. |

I found my guy in the ads right here on BHW. And now I wouldn't sell him for any amount of money. He is my "meant to be" horse |

Location: So. Cali. | I really enjoy the off the track prospects. Theyve been handled and hauled so young seasoning them is pretty darn easy, or has been in my experience so far! And all have been great trail horses, which is always a nice bonus.

Awww, thanks! He was a pleasure to be around and have here. Glad we could make his transition to the arena a good one. |
