Lately I am becoming extremely discouraged. I have a 12 year old mare, and lately she appears sluggish after the first barrel. Going into the arena, she is a ball a fire and has no issue charging to the first barrel, but once we get around it, she appears to take her time completing the rest of the pattern. I currently have her on Blue Seal Strider. Does anyone have any recommendations on what types of supplements or even feed brands I should try to put more pep in her step?

Have you had a vet check her out? Does she act sluggish all the time, or just when you put her on the pattern?

I would have her scoped. My horse would do the same thing, and it was because he was a bleeder. They can't breathe and feel like they are suffocating. Not saying this is what is wrong with your horse for sure, but just a suggestion.

Thank you for your responses. It's only when she is on the pattern. At home, I ride her a few times a week, and she is fine. No issues at all. I did try the flair strips to see if they would make a difference, and in all honestly, I didn't notice a change. She breaths normal.
