Extreme Veteran Posts: 333 Location: Alabama	Anyone used shock wave therapy for hock bone spurs? I have a mare that has one and have seen people use shock therapy. I was wondering if it will aggervate it. She is NOT lame and shows no signs of it but want to prevent. Also don't want to aggervate it with her running. Any suggestions please would help.

Expert Posts: 3514	I use the Theraplate. It has worked really well. I had a mare with hock spurs. I disolved them using silver lining herbs. Also you might try BOT hock wraps.

Elite Veteran Posts: 669 Location: Central Texas	I haven't had much experience with SW but I did have it done on my guy that has some navicular issues going on. He felt awesome after one treatment. They do tell you to give them a short amount of time off. I can't remember exactly and it maybe different for different issues. Reason for time off is that some horses will re injure themselves because they feel so good. Ask several good lameness vets and see what they say.
